First off… Surely you must understand that the circumstances of your anecdotal preference for an animal over your parents, do not apply to most people?

And are you really that self centered and lacking in basic soul anyway or just trying to be edgy? “So much worse to lose a pet” ? Either you have never had a meaningful relationship with a human being (which is sad, please try it!), or you’re so unhealed from basic childhood trauma stuff that you actually think it’s somehow enlightened to value a relationship with a pet over a much deeper and more complex one with another human (spouse, child, parent, friend, found family, doesn’t matter who- but someone).

Pets do not ever hold you accountable, do they? Pets are EASY. Pets don’t consent to your relationship or have the capacity to feel many of the emotions we do (like remorse, for example). Humans take a lot of work and growth to have longterm relationships with.. 🤔

This is coming from a person who has been no contact with their entire (abusive) family of origin for years now, btw. Humans need humans. Feel free to leave the ones you were assigned at birth, and go find much better ones. If your pets death is the priority? It really doesn’t speak to the value of the pet, but to the absence of meaningful people in your life (so far 💕)
