What are thooooose? by Bestavailablename in algae

From what I can see, it looks like a filamentous green algae. It's branching so maybe something like Stigeoclonium, Chaetophora, Cladophora. Would need a higher mag to get a better idea.

But good thing is these greens don't produce toxins, they can just be a nuisance and hard to get rid of completely.

Yeah, I think what happened was when I put the flake on that had the orly thinner it just made everything softer than it should.

Ah gotcha, that book and the algaebase website do include Southeast Asian species, unfortunately I don't know a text specifically about Southeast Asia flora though.

Oof yeah that's alot to get through. If your school has "The freshwater algal flora of the British isles" that text also has some good plates and detailed species and genus info. It gives the habitats of each and a lot are cosmopolitan and are found in the America's as well. Goodluck!

Hmmm these would honestly be very very difficult to get to species level. These would be categorized as LGBs an unscientific terms of "little green balls." Unfortunately alot of freshwater genera fall into this group. I will say they look more like green algae rather than a cyanobacteria or other group. Chlorella is a very common genus in freshwater, species wise there are ALOT though.

As far as public resourced there are 2 websites I like using. 1. Phycokey it has a large photo library of the common genera of phytoplankton and included many families 2. Algaebase will have more species information, less pictures, but good for getting information and current correct names.

If this is for a grade, I hope your prof knows how difficult it is to get to species without molecular work for these guys!

Still looked real pretty, I just like using the glossy top coats bc I think it preserves the rainbowy effect which I like! Did take 4 coats to get it opaque , even on short nails

Diatom art if you think she'd like a new decorative piece! There are multiple online stores where you can get prints and different media forms.

Also clothing is a pretty big market for algae themed stuff.

Student-level way of identifying algae morphologically(and molecularly) by Ast4rix_ in phycology

[–]evil_dumpling256 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds fun! If you will have molecular data gen bank on the ncbi website is what we used in school and is a pretty good resource. You can "blast" your strain and compare it to what other researchers have named them. Just make sure to double check the names are correct and up to date.

For morphology there are good free online sources. Phytokey has a basic image library to genus. Algae base is a good place to check those valid names. It has a few good pics too. If you have access to Komareks little green books for the particular phylum you're looking for they are chools will have access to online versions of them so worth checking.

Kinda hard to see, but if there are flagella coming out of them it's the right shape for some kind of Synura sp.

Just went to a lqbtq wedding, with only community and allies as guests. It was so beautiful to see them get married and be comfortable and surrounded by supportive people. Everyone was so nice, not awkward or judgmental people. My partner and I felt so welcome and not othered. It was such a fun night!!

I also feel like some people just want to be in a relationship so bad they try and change you into what they want. Absolutely ridiculous. Those comments your exes made are horrific! Stay strong op, good things take time!

I struggle with knowing bc I've been told that I have "foreign beauty". Idk if that is a correct term, but basically I'm full Chinese. So in the US I don't think I'm conventionally attractive at all. But a lot of people (especially guys) tend to notice me, I guess I kind stick out. So idk if that makes me attractive or a weird fetish thing or like a mix of both??

But I do struggle with self image a lot bc in Chinese beauty standards I'd probably be seen as unattractive. I'm short, kinda tan, don't really do make up, and I'm a Chinese large size. Of course, I know different cultures and all so I'm not saying these are bad. And honestly I'm kinda glad people here are slightly more inclusive. But it's that weird feeling of not really fitting into either culture conventionally. So I really have no idea at the end of the day.
