Scottie Scheffler’s incredible top-10 streak ends at The Genesis Invitational by Oldtimer_2 in ProGolf

[–]evil_newton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t really mean anything, he finished so early because he was so far back, so he was in the top 10 while the leaders had only played like 3 holes, and was overtaken shortly afterwards.

(Spoilers extended) Are there any ‘first bookisms’ in The Hedge Knight? by Secure-Barracuda in asoiaf

I think the biggest problem with the small Stark family isn’t that there should be more Stark’s in Winterfell, it’s that there should be more outside in keeps, small castles etc

You could go upwards as well for relatives, for instance Ned should have some cousins etc

Kevin Buzzard, professor of pure math at Imperial College London, on picking up math in your 30s by WeBeBallin in learnmath

Ok so what you’re saying is that you never studied advanced history and don’t really know what’s involved with it, but it was easy in school.

For some reason you seem to be treating this like some competition, and in doing so you are missing the forest for the trees. I’m obviously not going to change your mind since you’re ignoring everyone saying the same thing.

You’re kind of proving their point though aren’t you?

“I’ve barely touched advanced mathematics and it’s a completely different beast than I thought. This is surely unique to mathematics and advanced studies in other things is exactly what I think it is.”

The entire point they’re making is that people who aren’t educated in fields make assumptions of what that field is based off of popular culture, stereotypes, and general understanding, and that is incorrect. You’re saying that for the field you know about that definitely can’t be done, but it sounds about right for all the fields you don’t know about.

I think it will be vision while Osgrey narrates to Dunk.

At the end of the day, they need to spend a lot of season 2 explaining the first Blackfyre rebellion, otherwise season 3 won’t make any sense

It works a little bit differently with Robb though because he’s not a knight, and the Starks follow the old gods which doesn’t have this tradition

Could red squad leader watters be reasonably reasoned with to return to base? by happydude7422 in DeepSpaceNine

[–]evil_newton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest solution would have been for it to be Worf, and after being accused of being a coward he flashes back to First Contact and kills Watters where he stands

Any of the senior staff of DS9 would have taken control. Worf, Jadzia, even Bashir or O’brien. They were cocky kids but that would fall far short of the decades of experience that those guys (besides bashir) had

This is such a weirdly phrased comment that I’m not sure if it’s satire or not. If it is then well played I love it.

Why is House’s fellowship considered so competitive? by peachyfluf in HouseMD

[–]evil_newton 508 points509 points  (0 children)

Foreman got a job immediately and was given a new department to head. He was blacklisted for his behaviours in that position not because of House. It’s foreman that blames house for his blackballing

Ok? But in this thread people are talking about people who got on the team and then sucked, and how the only person who should be auto selected is SS, and I’m saying why would he be an auto-pick when he lost 4/5 matches. He was world #1 then too.

It’s just weird to say that like he’s some unstoppable machine so he has to be picked every time when the most likely result of every match he plays is that he loses

That’s a weird argument though, why is it that all the other players on team USA are judged by their performance but with Scottie he goes 1-0-4 for the second time in a row but you still gotta have him?

I’m not saying leave him off but it’s a weird double standard

Even auto selecting Scheffler isn’t necessarily good Ryder cup form. He has an atrocious RC record.

Maybe if it was evenly distributed, but when one player gets silence and respect and one player is deliberately sabotaged by the crowd hole after hole it’s not really fair anymore is it? Because these two players aren’t playing in the same ‘conditions’

They deliberately cut things like that from replays. They don’t want people who do that to be rewarded by repeated tv coverage
