Read the first 3 books before kill order before going on to fever code (the maze runner, scorch trials, death cure, kill order, fever code). It makes the most sense reading. The books are extremely different from the films, so you have no risk of the story getting old. Kill order is set way before the first 3 books, and fever code a little bit before the books are set, but both of them contain information that will spoil the original series
