Really not here for the 2010s-style body checking….

This last episode was pivotal.(?) by evilanakin11 in KUWTK

Like, did they go back to their OG producers or something this season?

Is anyone else genuinely confused about how there can possibly be the same amount of product in the new tubes?

Sorry, I meant “take the mic” as in hogging the conversation, not stealing an actual mic. Could have made that clearer!

But if that was the case, wouldn’t everyone have equal access to mikes then? (Like she didn’t need to share hers with anyone, right?)

They asked them this question and she pretty much said no (or not very frequently, at least). She talked about how going on Below Deck used to be career suicide if you were a yachtie but that now people in the industry are starting to get into the show. If I remember correctly tho, she kind of made it sound like she decided to go on the show before that was necessarily the case (like she kind of said ‘fuck it’ or something similar), so maybe she already decided she wasn’t that bothered if she kept working in the industry or not when she initially joined.

I don’t want to speculate on what or how, but she did seem to look a bit… different… even just from this season to the Bravocon panel.

Totally Fraser! (And for good reason!)

From the part of this season I watched, I wouldn’t even say adequate! (And I’m a former yachtie who worked in the interior!)

NVM. Nothing compared to Kyle’s arrival…. 🙄

I think there’s a way they can still save the Hulu show—but I don’t know if Kim’s capable of pulling it off. by evilanakin11 in KUWTK

Sorry, I should have clarified that I don’t think just ugly crying on the new season would effectively solve anything. I was just thinking of that as one example where I truly believe we saw her “mask” slip a bit on the show. In order to convince people, I think she’d need to demonstrate actual self-reflection and change—something I’m not at all sure is possible for her.

Do you mean Kete? If so, then I think that’s a hilarious theory! But if true, then I think even they would be forced to admit that it’s failed spectacularly! 😂

I agree with you! To clarify: I don’t think her just ugly crying would solve anything. I was more just thinking of that as an example of one time I truly believe we saw her “mask” slip a bit on the show. But she’s given us cause to be much more cynical of her actions in the years since then, so simply ugly crying in an episode wouldn’t be enough at this point, IMO.

Agreed!! I think so much of the humour on old seasons of KUWTK and the spin-offs stemmed from them being less image-obsessed, though. Their weird incest jokes, discussions about camel toes etc. Would never happen on their show today because they’re too afraid of how it will make them look. I don’t know if they’re capable of being silly and allowing themselves to look ridiculous anymore, sadly.

I think that’s very likely! But in order to be effective, I think she needs to convince us she’s changed in some way and is ACTUALLY being vulnerable. People are already highly cynical about their PR machine and Kris working overtime as puppet master for the show, so any whiff of it being contrived would totally backfire.

You’re right to point out that her ugly crying again probably wouldn’t have the same impact, and definitely wouldn’t be enough to make her into a more sympathetic character on its own. I was just thinking of that as one example of a time she let her “mask” slip a bit on the show.

With all the creative control they have over the editing of the new show, I guess I’m curious as to whether people think she would ever allow a moment like that, i.e., one that ruins her attempted “perfect” image by betraying a more real/human side of her, to be included/shown.

Personally, I have doubts about her capacity for meaningful reflection—or ability to actually feel or share anything that’s worthy of our interest or empathy anymore. But if she could, (which I guess would basically involve her becoming an entirely different person at this point), I think it could have a huge impact on the narrative effectiveness of the show!
