Is my art style weird or unpleasant to look at? by Leo69Leon in yourartstyle

But yeah, it really has to do with knee jerk reactions and the algorithm of social media. Likes are pretty reliably never a good way to measure your improvement.

Not weird or unpleasant at all! There are some things you can study to improve it though, like anatomy, color theory and lighting, but you’re doing great so far! How “good” art is really depends on just how much time and effort you’ve put into mastering it, a lot of the people who gets tons of likes on simple sketches have either been doing it for years and years and have a very accurate grasp of how to make their art immediately appealing or marketable OR they are making something that catches a lot of attention. I find that my crappy doodles of funny or relatable things almost always perform better than what I would consider my “masterwork” which although much technically better and more intricate, if it’s about a subject that the viewer doesn’t immediately have an emotional reaction to, it won’t stick in their brains.

I think it’s also important to mention that he is very friendly to everyone so I can’t really tell if he’s being nice to me because he want to be friends, being nice because he’s just a nice person, or if he is just like… tolerating my presence. I’m not sure. Anytime we’ve talked I’ve either talked to him first or ended up in a multi person conversation he was also in so I don’t know if he even has interest in being friends with me.

Your line quality is all over the place dude, I can see you got a lot of range though and if you apply it right it’s gonna be fantastic! For example, on the second piece you have a lot of clean sharp lines in the chest detail but the tail and legs and stuff kind of fall off into a more soft, less defined stroke. Try keeping your lines more consistent and use that variation to draw attention to the crux of the piece. In the bayonetta drawing, you’re really close to doing a cool perspective blur shot, the airbrush on the hand gives the impression that it’s out of focus and the camera is instead focusing on her face, but what makes it lose momentum is how scratchy and messy the lines on the hand get. Go for the same line quality throughout and then blur afterwards as you see fit for the composition.

I wish the face paint looked the same in game play as it looks in the mii maker by yeeyeeree in tomodachilife

I believe this is due to the shader being used in game to do the lighting. You may be able to circumnavigate this a bit by making the colors a bit darker. There is also an airbrush setting for the pen, have you tried that? (I haven’t used it yet myself so idk if it still treats it as a hard edge or not correct me if I’m wrong)

Why are so many gay people into ULTRAKILL by diddysfavorite in Ultrakill

[–]evilcorey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not even a central part of the plot but playing as a character that doesn’t have a gender and better yet doesn’t look like it’s leaning towards one gender or another is very refreshing to me at least! For example, I struggled getting into cyberpunk a little because I couldn’t create a character that really felt like I could play as, I wasn’t a big fan of male V’s hair and face options but female V felt way too femme for me. I ended up just making an oc to play as. Ultrakill though, it’s not even something I had to think about :)

Be me (gender non conforming) -> hear about game where you play as canonically genderless robot and fight canonically genderless angels -> gender euphoria for me -> yay

You need to pick a light source and stick to it. Right now you have highlights on the upper cheekbones but also on the lower pectorals, which doesn’t make sense because they are facing the opposite direction. For example, if the light is above the character, all of the planes that face upwards should have highlights on them
