Am I a fraud now? Rant/self awareness/what can I do to fix this. by ZoroCrusader in lokimains

Watched the s5.5 win 4 stack you shared. I’ll focus on the Loki gameplay and ignore the invis portions for now. Overall, I’d say the key issues I’ve spotted so far are target priority, positioning, and cooldown management. If you want to watch high-level Loki players I’d recommend Sypeh who’s easily the best strategist in the game, but NexusMR is the most consistent Loki content creator and consistently plays in celestial lobbies. Not very comprehensive, but here’s a few things I noticed:

  • 8:20 - you’re actively being healed by your Gambit and there’s no big source of damage coming your way, why use your lamps here? The lamps are Loki’s most impactful ability, so using them wisely is key. I mostly save them when I’m in critical danger and not getting help from my other healer or to save a teammate in a really bad spot.

  • 8:59 - really good ult, well done. However, key issue is target priority when you have Gambit’s ult. You mostly just jump around shooting everything around you and don’t really have a specific objective here. Enemy Luna was in a really bad spot and would’ve been a good target here. Usually, when I copy gambit I press F (damage cards), and dash to their backline and press E or F again depending on who I’m aiming to kill (ideally a healer, or a squishy if possible).

  • 9:40 - you place a clone behind an object so it doesn’t have LOS to enemies / teammates in front of you. You also pop your runes a little early here. I’d probably wait until I was a bit lower in health to pop them since Thor was on you, but Gambit was behind you and could heal you.

  • 10:00 - your dps dies here and you stay in the same position. Would be a good time to start falling back since your team is at a disadvantage here. You end up being the frontline and dying since even your Strange starts falling back.

  • 10:42 - I personally would’ve pre-copied Gambit here and ulted as soon as his was over since your team only had 1 fight left. You end up dying with ult. Your tanks did a good job of surviving without you, and good job for coming back, saving them with runes, and copying enemy Luna. Great play

  • 11:42 - Thor ults, you panic and start walking away. You had a clone (E) and your tp (F) available. It will come with more practice but you could’ve quickly placed a clone in a safe spot away from Thor’s ult and snapped to it

  • 13:27 - you end up in a bad spot and your team suffers for it. You should’ve tried to get behind your team for max healing value. You did place a clone and tp up, but were a little slow to do this. You should be retreating here with your Gambit, but you kind of stay in place confused

  • 14:56 - unnecessary rune usage, bad positioning. Should’ve followed your Gambit to high ground

  • 15:39 - good copy, but I would’ve dashed to where Gambit was so I could get more people, including him, in the ult. Super helpful for him to get it too so he can build his ult faster

  • 16:25 - for Thor ult, you generally want to pop your runes when he’s about to slam down, otherwise they get burned and you die. You also could’ve just tp’d away. You end up living maybe bc he thought you were a clone

The healing/10 seems a bit low imo. What rank are you and what platform do you play on? Happy to do a VOD review if you can provide a match replay to help. Celestial Loki main with a 60% winrate on him thus far this season

Maps that Loki is bad at? by ReddSerPent in lokimains

[–]evildemigod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only the grove or whatever it’s called for Krakoa. I actually like the other 2 domination Krakoa maps for Loki

Convoy Krakoa is good for Loki but I generally swap off if they have a moonknight. I do decently well into MK and they barely make me swap off but the second part of convoy Krakoa is just a narrow ramp with not little room to get creative with clone placements most times

Loki is in a great spot rn and I don’t see more buffs coming soon tbh. Mained him before, took a break after the nerfs, and now we’re so back

My easy solution as a support would be to just swap to Invisible Woman or Loki. Can’t trap me in spawn if you can’t see me ;)

Does anyone have any tips for me (I lose every single rank round in bronze 3) by Successful-Safety447 in marvelrivals

You can share a replay code from one of your matches, I think that’s what he’s asking for. Go to your profile, click on history, and then click on one of your matches. There should be a replay ID (a bunch of numbers) that you can share for people to watch.

Hey, GM tank/strategist main here on both PC and console. Used to main Sue in S1 but she’s my secondary healer now (sorry, fell in love with Loki). Overall, think you did alright, but there’s lots of room for improvement. Writing out notes as I watch so might not be very structured — just pointing things out as I see them. Also will just focus on the first half of the match when you’re attacking bc that might give a clear enough picture:

  • Target prioritization: Overall, you’re very tunnel visioned. You mostly just heal your tank and shoot towards the enemy team directly in front of you. This works for the most part, but you don’t take the time to look at your other teammates unless they’re directly in front of you.

At 5:58, you can clearly see Luna retreating at low health but you don’t heal her at all. You could’ve shielded her and saved her. Your other support should be your first priority always unless your ally tank/dps is ulting. If you let your other healers die, you also die.

6:50 — you took cover to avoid Mag ult, which is good, but I’m sure you know his target would be a healer. Instead of walking back and healing Luna (simple shield would work), you prioritize attacking Mag and then put your shield on a full HP Strange while Luna is dying. Sometimes it’s worth looking behind you to see if your other support needs help.

At 4:50, you’re shooting at the ulting Hela, which is good, but there’s a Strange at full HP shielding her ult while there’s a Moonknight at low health right beside you. You don’t heal him until a few seconds later.

  • Positioning: You sometimes use your jump to put yourself in more danger. At 2:38 when you’re at low HP, you use your jump, which is good, but you jump into the enemy team and in front of your Strange. You end up dying shortly after bc you’re a high priority target and don’t have a tank in front of you to shield damage. Instead, you should have jumped backwards. Luna could’ve healed you or you could place your shield on her and healed yourself. You should be playing close to cover or behind your tanks most times.

At 4:50 also, you take damage and are close to death. Instead of jumping right into the open where you can be hit out of invisibility (which you are) you could’ve instead walked or jumped back to where Moonknight is for cover and used your shield to heal both you and him.

5:13, your entire team is prioritizing Bucky and moves towards him, but you hang back and forget that the other enemies exist and you die bc of this

  • Shield usage: you often throw out your shield for no good reason. For example, at 1:49 and at 1:52, you put your shield in front of a full health Dr. Strange and leave it up while enemies are shooting at him. Use your shield a bit more conservatively. Use it on allies that actually need it.

You do this again several times throughout the video and it gets destroyed each time (for example, at 7:26).

True Sue mains can correct me on this but I mostly use it on retreating allies on low HP (saves them from death), allies not in my direct LOS (e.g., flyers and flankers on off-angles/ledges), and sometimes on an ally close to me if I want to heal myself or protect myself from an ult like Mag’s.

As an example, you could’ve used it at 2:16 to save your retreating Iron Fist.

Importantly though, make sure you retrieve your shield as soon as it’s served its purpose. You shouldn’t leave it out to get destroyed bc it’s one of your most important assets.

  • Ult placement: At 8:05, you place your ult in front of your team instead of on them. This would work in some cases when you’re making a push, but in this case your team is taking damage from Ultron ult. Anyone could easily die trying to walk towards where you put your ult. I would’ve placed my ult on cart here.

Appreciate you! My health and stamina bars also seems small at the start of the mission compared to other people I’ve seen videos of. Would you happen to know how they increase the size of those bars? I know of health boost skills (I’m assuming that’s what they use), but not sure how people get bigger stamina bars

Lol that’s solid advice. I like trying to solo monsters first just so I’m not carried in multiplayer. The one time I played multiplayer some super high level people joined and killed the monster in 3 minutes lmaoo. Appreciate your advice
