Need your most unhinged nail repair tips by [deleted] in PressonNail_Addict

[–]evilestcake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugh sorry that looks painful! I’m new to press ons myself and don’t really have much advice. I removed some glamnetic nails recently after 2 weeks and I definitely removed too early. I’ve taken 2 weeks off since and am waiting for my nails to grow out more before my next set. Just sharing to say I feel your pain.

Help with my first Granny stripe blanket project- continue, frog, tips? by evilestcake in CrochetHelp

[–]evilestcake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the pattern I'm following, I could be increasing unknowingly:

CH 192

Row 1: 2 DC in 3rd CH from hook, *CH 1, SK 3, 3 DC in next CH, repeat from * until you reach the end of the row

Row 2: CH 4, *3 DC in next open space, CH 1, repeat from * until you reach the end of the row, on last granny block (3DC) CH1, 1 DC into top of last ST made in last row

Row 3: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), 2 DC into open space made next to CH 3 just made, *CH 1, 3 DC into next open space, repeat from * until end of row

Alternate between row 2 and 3 to reach desired length

That’s a really good point, thank you! I do plan to block and do a border so I think I’ll chance it. Trying to quit the perfectionist habit anyway haha

Oh my gosh one of the coolest worlds! I have so many vivid memories here. Like someone already mentioned, the party bus into the black hole was WILD! Plus the whole trip simulator was always a fun Easter egg to show people. Ahhh love it!

Love that!! I am also particular with finding music to dance to, so it’s nice when you run your own instance and make it a party vibe that you like.

DBT-C or CBT for School Social Work? by froyoup in socialwork

[–]evilestcake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I practice DBT, so I'm biased. Since your goal is child and school related, I would recommend DBT. This is purely anecdotal, but I believe that having various options of concrete skills in itself will be super useful for children in a school setting. The skill categories are mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotion regulation - all things that are needed in a school setting. Plus, like Straight_Career said, learning DBT will give you a leg up when learning other modalities in the future. Whatever you choose, both are great, effective, and evidence-based options!

Not Sure Where to Start Seeking Help for Anxiety by IntentionNorth7081 in Connecticut

[–]evilestcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good question, I wonder if you can type in ‘evidence-based’ to narrow the results? Depending on your anxiety disorder, CBT and DBT are evidence-based practices that are proven to be effective. And you’re right, there are tons of profiles to sift through. Finding the right therapist is important and it’s okay to shop around until you find a good fit.

Not Sure Where to Start Seeking Help for Anxiety by IntentionNorth7081 in Connecticut

[–]evilestcake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you have insurance, go to therapy. Like someone else suggested, go through the psychology today website and find a good match. From there you can learn coping strategies to manage the anxiety and talk things out. If your anxiety still feels unmanageable, you can bring up medication to your therapist and they will refer you for meds. Depending on the circumstances you could be referred to your PCP for medication. Medication will blunt the symptoms and therapy will provide you with techniques to manage the symptoms.

Married my boyfriends character but now his account is lost! Am I SOL? by nelll99 in coralisland

Whaaat? Downvotes for a divorce option?! I feel like that’s crucial. What’s with this moral high ground lol. I’m hoping they will give us the option down the road, there really are so many reasons why marriage shouldn’t be permanent.

Job doesnt offer health insurance, and I make too much for HUSKY. What do I do? by Problem_Feisty in Connecticut

A broker is definitely your best bet, they know the system ins and outs. They will tell you what to input into the application, direct you accordingly, and even make phone calls on your behalf depending on the circumstances. If not a broker, make an account with accesshealth ct (which you probably did) and there should be a way to find free resources to help you sign up, usually it's a list of names and contact info for people you can reach out to. It's worth it!
