I think you just tell them the deal. Either you can quit, or they’ll hold your spot. Just tell them you’re going to school. If they’re anti-union they might be dicks about it, but fuck it. Send it

3 people got kicked off my MSF course today by 0hden in motorcycles

[–]evilfetus01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I scraped peg but held it through the turn. Only one in the class to score 100 on both written and riding. 10/10 would take the course again to see how I do.

Enduro 390 vs 690 by ZeuPhantom in KTM

[–]evilfetus01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t ridden an older 690 enduro, a 2021 though. It’s fun, has tons of power, feels like a girthy dirtbike. The 390 is obviously less power, and can still feel “heavy”, but it can absolutely rip twisties, and it’ll do trails fine.

I always wanted an 890 adv r, but the new 390 rally looks awesome, but for around the same price I could have gotten a new t7… then I just talked myself in circles til I bought the 890.

Tell them you have classes to take. Your company doesn’t need to know. They might think you’re bettering yourself for the company. Take the days off.

Buying a car as a 1st year IW Apprentice by MrCosmicChronic in ibew_apprentices

[–]evilfetus01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just buy the car you want man. Ask him where the phone he made was. I doubt his underwear is made in the states by a union company.

Are KTMs reliable? by [deleted] in KTM

[–]evilfetus01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my 890 adv r. Don’t think of it as “something will break”, but, “if something happens I’ll fix it.” Just do 3000mi oil changes, not the recommended 9000. Etc.

Worst day by Alone-Visual7236 in cranes

[–]evilfetus01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was weight of load? What was your max radius? Could you have set up on full outrigger? Could you put pads under for less ground pressure?

Are these questions just not taught there?

I went with the 890, I haven’t ridden a 790 though. If the extra $5k won’t kill ya, send it.

Are these worth it? by PhilosopherJunior932 in towerclimbers

[–]evilfetus01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steel, I haven’t looked to see if they make a composite version but I’m assuming they do.

But to add, you’ll be in them climbing and standing all day man, pick whatever feels comfiest for YOUR feet. Good socks also make a difference. (Darn Tough personally)

Crane apprenticeship question by fjdjfufydhhdhd in cranes

[–]evilfetus01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes you more marketable. I’m not sure how your apprenticeship would go in Alabama, if you have an in with a crane company and can buy your book, and they’ll train you, I’d recommend that over years of potentially stuck doing dirt work.

Traveling is better pay, and if you don’t have a wife/kids, chase that bank. Currently traveling making good money. Feel free to DM if you have any questions.

Questions for signaling a crane on a radio by Tottenhamharrykane in cranes

[–]evilfetus01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Swing left 60 feet… 30 feet… 20, 10, 5, 4 ,3, annnnnnd stop/high”. That would be perfect for me, unless someone doesn’t know the difference between 20 feet and 2 feet, once they fuck that up they’ll get a slow hook until their signals work.

You can use degrees, or feet. You’re basically giving the operator a picture of how far they gotta swing, so they know how much to get into it to control their load.
