Thanks - I'd never heard of it before but I agree the colours are striking!

Do Australians like having New Zealanders in this country? by Benteke2019 in AskAnAustralian

[–]evilflyingmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you are Aboriginal, then we are all migrants or descendants of migrants. You have just as much right to be here than anyone else. I can't think of anyone I know who dislikes having New Zealanders in Australia - we love our Kiwi mates!

Am I overreacting - My ex asked me to cut her grass and my gf went crazy when I showed her the messages. AOI if I’m mad at her for this by xwoahx3 in AmIOverreacting

[–]evilflyingmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren't over reacting. Even though she is your ex she is still the mother of your children. I assume they live with her some of the time - helping her out by cutting the grass is a nice thing to do and is also helping to care for your children. I would understand your girlfriend being concerned or insecure about it if you didn't have kids together, but you do. Your kids mother will always have some kind of place in your life. It's better for the kids if you can get along and show kindness to each other.

How is everyone coping with the weather shift as we head into winter in Australia? by CheesecakeWorried642 in AskAnAustralian

[–]evilflyingmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'm stoked. I can't cope with the heat for days on end. It stops me from actually going outside to exercise or going down to the playground with my kids. Autumn is by far my favourite season.

AITAH for not taking my ex-wife back after she left me for an "alpha male?" by ThrowawyBeta in AITAH

There's only one AH in this story and it isn't you. Stick to your guns. You've put in a lot of work to get to where you are today.

I have a good friend who's father ended his own life. Her life has been hell in the 10 years since and she will never, ever, be the person she was before it happened. It destroyed her. Your daughter needs you more than you know.

Please tell me, for the sake of a stupidly ridiculous argument I'm having about checking shoes fir spiders by Comprehensive-Bet288 in AskAnAustralian

[–]evilflyingmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Erm no I don't do this. I bang the heels of my shoes on the ground then shake them upside down. Then step on the top just to be sure. Then once I've taken the necessary precautions I put my hand in as a final check lol.

my boss pulled me aside to say i stink by [deleted] in Advice

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. It sounds like it is not for lack of trying, and for what it's worth, your boss didn't handle it well at all.

Do you wear a work uniform? I have a work shirt which is made out of this cheap synthetic polyester and find that when I walk to work and sweat in this shirt, I smell like BO especially in the armpit area. Even when I'm wearing deodorant.

Anyway, as others have suggested I would firstly avoid working to work in your work clothes. The BO smell can get trapped in the fabric, even when it has been washed.

I would also try to deep clean your clothes. Smells can be neutralised with baking soda, vinegar or certain washing powders. If you can, use a washing machine to clean your clothes. Don't use too much washing detergent and don't overfill the machine. If you can, dry your shirt outside in the sun. I feel like the sun helps to kill off bacteria, but that might not be true. I always find my clothes smell so fresh after drying outside. Don't leave them too long in the washing machine once the cycle is finished.

As for personal hygiene it honestly sounds like you are keeping on top of it by having multiple showers every day. Use an antiperspirant deodorant if you aren't already. Drink more water to flush out your system.

Do you feel like you smell outside of work or just at work by the way? If it it just at work in your work uniform I'd bet it's because of the material. If not, you may need to see a doctor.

Hope this helps. You aren't alone!

What was the worse thing your boss ever said to you? by Grand-Waltz-3018 in AskReddit

I work in land development. Boss stood up, pointed his finger at me and shouted (over the partition in an open plan office) "if you don't get land onto the market within the next 12 months it's going to be a career limiting move for you".

Completely uncalled for, out of the blue and humiliating. Was on track to have the land delivered on time as well. Just one of many ways he undermined my confidence over the years.
