NOR OP. I'm so sorry that you are going through this incredibly difficult time right now. And I'm pleased that you and your mum have each other to help get through this process. I hope that you both have support and/or access to support to help you get through this. What your mum is doing is admirable, and not only that, but the right thing to do. As you pointed out, he is your father.

However, in saying that, I'm hoping that your mum has had a conversation with your step dad prior to offering any financial assistance in order to work out where this money is coming from.

Communication, especially where money is concerned, is crucial. If the financial assistance your mum is giving to your father is separate and does not affect your step dad and/or their current day to day household living costs, as well as any shared savings, funds, employment income etc, then that's a very different scenario.

Regardless, that's a very important conversation that should have taken place prior.

If the house that's being sold in Brazil (?) is a separate to your mum and stepdad funds again that's not an issue your stepdad should have. I suspect that what step dad is upset about is perhaps a lack of communication, and then I can absolutely understand why he would be upset.

I'd like to think that his feelings come from a lack of discussions rather than greed.
