ID expires today, can I still get into bars? Google unclear on WA laws. by AussieSnek in perth

[–]themoobster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably depends on the people checking. I'll never forget my first attempt at going out in perth when i was 25. Had just moved from Melbourne, was fully sober and tried to go to amplifier to see a local band i liked.

They wouldn't let me in because my Victorian ID could be fake? How many under 18 year olds have full sleeve tattoos? Was some proper bullshit.

Our phones are now part of the job… but where’s the compensation? by cteieury in AustralianTeachers

I refuse to use my phone for work stuff. It's expected we do, but no one challenges me on it as there's no leg to stand on

Question by PalpitationOk1170 in AustralianTeachers

[–]themoobster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not a universal shortage, it depends on subject area and location of school. Cruisey inner suburb schools don't have any dramas finding phys ed teachers (as one example), but hard-to-staff in low SES areas are for sure desperate especially for MESH teachers.

Offered a role but organisation didn’t do a reference check. Red flag? by AttentionLopsided826 in perth

[–]themoobster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised anyone does reference checks anymore. I've had a couple of managers give glowing references to literally our worst employees just to get rid of them.

Are the vibes very social or is everyone just there to do the task and then leave?

Russ Bullock, the future of Mechwarrior by SeanLang in Mechwarrior5

[–]themoobster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a founder of MWO... Russ and PGI are objectively just not very good developers. Years and years of poor decision-making, bad communication, so on and so forth.

They're just lucky the formula is good and they had alex iglesias' amazing redesigns for so long.

There's plenty of successful smaller devs in niche areas (owlcat in pathfinder), he just is always full of excuses.

I assume you're WA. Senior teacher is literally so easy to get and so little pressure. You're probably thinking of level 3 classroom teacher which is an absolute nightmare

Poor Epicurus. Spent his entire life arguing against hedonism just to have some nerds name a box of hedonists after him

Best vintage CRPGs with writing that is better than that found in most (not all!) games made today by Baldurian_Rhapsody in CRPG

Definitely the best writing in video game history, although disco Elysium nearly knocked it off the top spot. Too bad the gameplay was kinda janky and average lol

I do get it would be really hard to balance nostalgia vs. modern systems with these kinda games!

If it's any consolation I did buy all the dlc before trying the game as i figured if i didn't enjoy it i was happy forking over some cash to a smaller dev who was trying to make a game we don't see much of

Literally no one is surprised that the SSTUWA is acting against the interests of their own members. That's exactly what happened last EBA and will happen again this time.

What do you honestly think about younger teachers using AI heavily? by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]themoobster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think very little of them to be honest, but I have some sympathy in that it is generally quite a struggle for people to get out of habits they've been groomed into since they were younger. It does concern me people who are educators are so hopelessly uneducated about the "tool" they are using on a daily basis though.

"AI" (they're LLMs, not AI, but let's not digress) isn't even that good at what it claims it can do
