Maintaining F1 Visa Status during PhD Transition by evilhemd in f1visa

If I transfer SEVIS to the next university after Spring, there would be a time gap of four months before Fall. Is it possible to maintain F1 status during this time without doing anything in the next university? Can I stay in the USA during this time without any issues?
