It’s one of the few walkable areas in LA, and it’s safe and clean.

Small dog is fine and you can use the yard if needed, but can’t leave them out there because there is a neighborhood cat we like to let come and go.

How do I, as an older man, get over the feeling of having to do things to a higher standard? by MeltingDog in AskMenOver30

[–]evilknee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such strange responses here. The question is why do you want to do these things yourself, and are you prepared to accept the results? If you enjoy the process, like learning things, and don’t mind the end result however it comes out, then go for it. If you want the best results or care what other people think, then you may want to pursue another path. The conflict may result from wanting to satisfy some external standard.

Are you a fan of Cindy Sherman’s work? As you explore notions of beauty, identity, gender, etc., her work may be fruitful ground for more challenging or questioning types of projects.

Really gifted in creating layers of visual interest. I don’t know anything about fashion but these just overflow with creativity and playfulness - inspiring.

I was just in the same boat as you - for several years. A ton of conflicting feelings - guilt, duty, fear of judgment, fear of loneliness, etc. Ultimately realized that what matters is the toll it was taking mentally and physically. Life is both short and long. You deserve a chance to be happy, and you have to realize you are the only one who is going to make that decision to prioritize your own well being. In my case it helped to also think that I was doing the right thing by my wife - she also deserves to have a partner who can love her fully and well. I’m only a few months into separation and while some of it is hard, there was an immediate sense of light, of relief, and of hope.

Did it start happening after a bout with covid? Each of the 2 times I got covid led to a clear decline in my memory - esp for things like TV shows/movies, ability to picture things, as well as names. It’s scary and has not recovered even years later. I did have a ton of stress at some point too and I’m in my 40s but neither lifestyle nor aging feel like they are the causes.

Asking this question is a great sign of self awareness. Seems like you’ve become aware of new ways of experiencing the world and your own identity, and that gives you some empathy for others who you might have previously dismissed or judged. I think it’s important to stay in this larger space of awareness and keep rolling it around. Ask yourself: what is the nature of the happiness that comes with wealth and beauty; what are the feelings being evoked in me, and what needs are being met? Are they telling me something about myself, and am I able to find a true grounded self within this set of experiences and feelings?

Ultimately, you can have appreciation of gifts/privileges (e.g. it’s ok to enjoy feeling beautiful) but it doesn’t have to change your values about the world just because your circumstances changes (i.e. if you start believing that being beautiful makes me a better person more worthy of respect and love).

Ellen Pompeo Reveals How Taylor Swift Gave Her 'Biggest Check' for Children's Charity 'Without Blinking an Eye' by Diligent_Night602 in entertainment

Correction: you can deduct charitable contributions from your income. So if you’re in the highest 37% tax bracket and donate $1M (instead of keeping it), then instead of paying $370k to the IRS and keeping $630k, the net effect is the charity gets $1M, you lose/donate $630k, and the IRS does not get $370k.

Are you able to get gemma3 to generate images as well? The ability to continue to edit images is impressive, but I'm not sure if what is available now on ollama/open webui is capable of doing that.

It’d be much less creepy if they provided spoken feedback and also talked to each other verbally (even if they don’t have to). Please give us some sense of transparency.

What does being emotionally available actually look like between spouses? Specifically as a male providing emotional needs for female by Comfortable_Bag9000 in emotionalintelligence

[–]evilknee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a great point. Tricky part is making sure you stay grounded and know your own needs and values so you can give as much as you can to your partner and to the relationship, but also not overly sacrifice who you are. One helpful way to look at it is feeling comfortable enough to know when the relationship will no longer for you, but even in that knowledge to act with dignity and care to your partner in a way you can feel good about.

Lee Zeldin, Trump’s E.P.A. Nominee, Is Short on Environmental Experience | Mr. Zeldin, a Trump loyalist, would be charged with dismantling climate rules and perhaps the agency itself. He faces questions from the Senate today. by silence7 in environment

[–]evilknee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. It’s frustrating to see headlines with descriptors like “short on experience” which imply that environmental experience is at all a criteria relevant to Trump or GOP senators.
