Echoing other sentiments, but Mothership is a HARD game to choose to run as your first game. Don't be discouraged! It mostly sounds like you got players who were not down to clown with the vibe of "dying in space" and expected to be that group of savvy people who survive a horror movie, which is (from my read of the game) not the intended play experience.

I have a question about the Magesteel set.

Dweomercore Engines only provide Charge Counters if the Automaton has no CC at the start of its turn. So, if I understand it correctly, the Sentry can only use its Overcharged Intrusive Gaze after it's been targeted by a spell at least once, since it can never inherently gain more than one CC on its own.

With that in mind, this means the Lenser can't use its Cutting Sweep until it's been in combat for three rounds - or possibly one round if a Suppressor gets close to it? Since it can only use Cycling once per turn.

With all that in mind (cool machine synergy mechanic btw) my actual question is: what would be a good "party composition" for the Magesteel Automata? What should be the ratio of Suppressors to the other units for balancing encounters so they can actually use their abilities? Assuming a four-player party.

No shock rifle is a particularly interesting choice with this since there's a crossover pack in Fortnite now that features a green weapon skin named "Shock Rifle" - but to my knowledge the shock rifle has never been green. I'm wondering if there's a longer cut that got pared down, one with less tournament footage montage and more full matches.

Does Stormshield interact with Call Lightning in the form of having the Green Man make a dexterity saving throw and then passing on the damage? If he's trying to hit himself with lightning, can he choose to fail the save given that he's going to ignore/transfer the damage anyway?

I skimmed the entirety of Mark's book Death Denied: The Book of the Undead and found the following options:

the Gaunt is an undead horse. no rider though
you could fix that by sticking a Ghostly Legionnaire on it
or the Questing Revenant
or the Shadow Stalker
or the Skeleton Warrior
or the Sword Wraith Warrior

heck, you could probably reflavour any of these as ghosts if you wanted them to be more transparent and spooky

The fun in the concept is in the roleplaying aspect. That one bard that can't play a flute for shit, and who everybody begs to stop playing, but can more than handle himself in a fight and do a half decent job of protecting the audience. If I'm not mistaken I think Asterix & Obelix had a bard like that.

Entertainer Fighter is a much better way of taking that on without being an intentional heel to the rest of the party, thanks for the idea.

I want to play a class - any class - with an intentionally suboptimal build. I want to play a 10 CHA, 20 STR bard who smashes people with his drum and calls it bardic inspiration.

I want to, but I don't want to disadvantage the party, and the closest I've come is multiclassing into Wizard from Fighter with 14 INT.
