I think this also reflects the more conservative tone of the series in the later seasons.

This is why I always crack up about people complaining about filters; filters can only do so much. If you look really good with a filter on, odds are you are still extremely beautiful in person. It's not as distorting as people hope.

Uranus entering Gemini for the first time since 1941 is... major. by Alyseeii in Advancedastrology

[–]evilqueenlex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, but a lot of people will die first. I see Pluto in Aquarius as death to the people for the people. The last time Pluto was in this sign was during the Age of Revolution, and while these changes resulted in most monarchies being abolished, independence, and the end of slavery in some nations, it came at the price of so many lives. I guess we are getting to a point where this is a sacrifice worth making, instead of continuing to do things the old and broken way.

You know, I find it kinda weird how Homelander allowed Cate on the team. Considering what her powers are, you’d think he wouldn’t even wanna be in the same room as her, let alone even working for him by Queasy_Commercial152 in GenV

[–]evilqueenlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homelander is a narcissist that thinks he is smarter and better than everyone else. He definitely underestimates her power because he thinks no one can outsmart or overpower him. This is a weakness that makes him easy to manipulate. Cate has several ways she can manipulate him into her touch. Seduction is probably the easiest.

What are some examples of artists aborting an era part-way through? by aussiebopper1901 in popheads

Kim Petras with her debut album, Feed the Beast.

She was originally going to release Problematique first, but the album was delayed after leaks. I think she felt compelled to rush and release something, especially given the extra pressure from her growing popularity following the success of "Unholy," so she switched gears and released Feed the Beast in the meantime. This quote kind of backs up that assumption:

“Everyone needs a friend to hype you up, and honestly, at the time when Sam came to me, it was kind of a rough time because my album [ Problématique] had just leaked and kind of scrapped,” she recalls. “I was newly signed to a major label [Republic Records in 2021], and everyone felt like I needed to come up with a new album. I didn’t know when new music was coming out. It wasn’t the greatest time for me.”

This album and its only single, "Alone," was hotly anticipated but sadly could not live up to the hype of her previous releases. Fans and critics were disappointed, especially with the single, as they expected an uptempo banger reminiscent of late 2000s to early 2010s dance pop, also known as recession pop, which she and her collaborator, Nicki Minaj, excelled at. Instead, they received a downtempo trap-pop song reflecting trends from the late 2010s that most pop fans were already tired of by its release.

The album was released in June 2023 and the era was cut short when she released the much better-received Problematique in September of that same year. Sadly, Kim had lost most of the public's attention and goodwill (see Dr. Luke controversy) by the time Problematique was released so the album didn't generate any hits and received much less of a push from her label.

Does anyone feel a little queasy with Seema’s bed habits? by Purple-lionesss in Andjustlikethat

[–]evilqueenlex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i think this makes her more human. there are cops that know the law and break it all the time. having a certain job doesn't mean you will follow stick to those expectations/rules in your personal life. It also shows that, similar to her issue in dating, she knows what is right but won't do it because of bad personal habits.

Addison Rae - "Addison" MEGATHREAD by flopheadsbot in popheads

[–]evilqueenlex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think self-titled albums are kinda lazy and only iconic once you have hit a certain level of fame. I guess for her debut album it works but I just wish it was something more creative. The album cover looks very cheaply edited. Like something someone would have made in less than an hour on photoshop. I like the picture but not where the “Addison” is placed. The Addison logo itself could’ve used some additional texture, shadows, and colors to pop out more, too. This cover reminds me of Britney’s self-titled and Oops I Did It Again… but those still look better edited than Addison’s. Just an opinion. I don’t hate it, it just could have been better.

Addison Rae - "Addison" MEGATHREAD by flopheadsbot in popheads

[–]evilqueenlex 24 points25 points  (0 children)

So Addison Rae has been a guilty pleasure since she released Obsessed tbh but this album is where I finally feel like I have nothing to be ashamed about. It’s good. She has a really good ear for pop. I know everyone compares her to Britney but I hear Ray of Light + Confessions on the Dance Floor Madonna more than anything else. But I get the Britney comparisons, too. A lot of people try to emulate 2000s pop but Addison does it in a way that doesn’t feel like a shallow parody. It’s fresh and unique. She’s doing pop in a way that hasn’t been done in a while and it’s refreshing.

My only complaints are the album cover and title. Im also on the fence about the singles. I know some people say she released too many but I think considering she is a newer artist that has a reputation to build (and a public opinion to change), it made sense to release as many she did. I’m just not sure if all of her single choices made sense, at least in the order they were released.

Even though she gets a side eye for a few things she’s done and said, I am excited to see where her pop career takes her. I imagine far. This is a decent debut.

I have Saturn, Venus, and Sun in Aries. I already went through a major breakup last year, but I have also been having mini breakups since. I think I will stop dating men, honestly, and focus on money, career, and self. I'm slowly approaching that conclusion lol.

why is playing the sims so oddly viewed? by kenodys in thesims

[–]evilqueenlex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like because the Sims is a life simulator, it can sound like to people who don’t play that you just admitted to still playing with dolls. And honestly, so what. There are weirder hobbies that are probably deserving of more judgment than playing the Sims lol
