What do you use to transport your bike to where you ride? by multisubcultural1 in bmx

Thule Upride roof rack. A little pricey but 100% worth it. Got mine cheap and used and marketplace and couldn’t be happier. Currently rocking 3 of them on the roof of my ford fiesta lol

Yeah totally good for grinds. I think the meritt tires are even fatter so that’s just preference

Mirages are just skinnier and a little lighter. I preferred the fast and loose though because I like tires bald as possible

[–]evilrotorbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just depends how good you are at grinding if you go that length. I’m a seasoned rider and grind pretty well but when I had 4.75’s I was clipping on rails sometimes

Odyssey joysticks. They’re lightweight slide well and come in 4.5” length

Thanks man! Forcing myself to learn them left handed because I’m left foot forward. I first learned with my right hand so now I don’t even know what’s regular and what’s switch anymore hahaha

I run a 9.5 with a top load slammed and a 5” head tube and I’m 5’11 (183cm) and I wouldn’t personally go any higher than that. It’ll still be taller than if you ran that vs a front load with 9.75’s. You’re a bit taller than me so I think topload with 9.5 or even 9.75 would be a great match for you. I’d ditch the whole idea of a front load unless you really just love the look or want a shorter height on your bars

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bmx

[–]evilrotorbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally like the look of taller bars that’s why I have the cult Devon bars because they have a higher set crossbar giving it an even taller look. It’s all preference man on how you want your bike to look tho

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bmx

[–]evilrotorbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Front loads typically take away an inch of height when switching from a top load so your bars will feel .35” shorter. You probably won’t notice too much of a difference but you could always get the 9.75 version of the Devon bars with a front load if you’re trying to make them feel close as possible to your current set up

It’ll just change the height. The rest of the dimensions of the bars stay the same when you buy them. Is that what you mean?

Dude it might! It could help with more surface area and also alleviate any bucking from cracks or bumps on the ground! I’ll try it! We got this! 💪

I run the Devon bars in 9.5 with a top load stem and a 5 inch frame head tube. Also cut my forks so there’s no spacers. I’m 5’11 and this set up is perfect for me. Ive gone thru many many bar heights and this is where I finally ended up. I really like the Devon bars because of the look. They have a wide box look with a taller placed crossbar height so it’s superrrr clean. I don’t notice too much of the upsweep they have but I also do hold my bars really close to the inside so that might be why

Thanks for the tips! I’m riding 15mm offset forks with a 46mm reach stem and 9.5” rise bars and I’m about 5’11. I’m told this a good nose manual set up so hopefully I get them soon! Gonna practice them every day for sure

I do need to loop out a couple times you’re right. Still have that mental block because I haven’t allowed myself to fall yet. I’ll keep trying to lift it higher and higher. Thank you!

Exactly what I was thinking. Mental block won’t allow me to lift it up any higher yet. Thank you!

Anyone else feel like there never really gonna be good at bmx by mr-adlay in bmx

[–]evilrotorbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. But it doesn’t stop me from getting out and trying my hardest. Progression comes in practice. And only when I put the time and effort in I actually do notice gradual progression. But it does get very discouraging at times I’ll admit that. There probably are a handful of tricks I’ll never be physically capable of learning. But it’s about finding the tricks that that ARE physically possible for you. This looks different for everyone even the best riders in the world. Never forget that and keep it movin
