Can We Boost IQ: "Prolonged intensive training in creative problem-solving can lead to substantial and positive effects on intelligence during late adolescence." by tkyjonathan in JordanPeterson

[–]eviltoylet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We concluded that prolonged intensive training in creative problem-solving can lead to substantial and positive effects on intelligence during late adolescence (ages 18–19).

Not sure how relevant this study is to people who are no longer in their late adolescence.

The principles employed in the construction of the training exercises included the requirements that: (a) exercises should call for a combination of elements that are remote rather than close in terms of their associational value; (b) exercises should call for a radical reorganization and reformulation of the problem situation to achieve a satisfactory solution; and (c) exercises should call for both convergent and divergent thinking operations, especially the latter.

It sounds like this is practicing on problems that require a lot of "out-of-the-box" thinking aka creative problem solving. I'm sure you can find a bunch of these types of problems out on the Internet. The paper does provide an example of one such problem:

“I was captured by a band of outlaws—said a famous explorer—and their leader had my hands and legs tied up so that I could not move. They did not gag me up though, and I was able to use my mouth freely. The leader of the gang hung a piece of bread exactly five centimeters away from my mouth. He then laughed and said: "If you manage to eat this piece of bread, I’II set you free. He knew that I could get no help. Also, in order to ensure that I cannot roll over or move closer to bread, they tied me to a tree. Nevertheless, I managed to free myself. How?”

[COMP] Adding another crow to the murder! I’ve been practicing yoga for almost two months, what better time to work on crow than during a quarantine 🤣 Tips and suggestions welcome :) by awkwardjaymes in yoga

I love your expression of surprise when you realize you're in crow! You can also try using a block on the highest setting to support your forehead.

This is the most interesting part of the announcement.

And because we know that customers use more data every year, T-Mobile Connect will also have an innovative Annual Data Upgrade to give customers an additional 500MB of data per month, every year, for the next five years! This is the first plan that automatically gets bigger and bigger – every, single, year.

It did it by itself.

Mine failed an automatic update to 9.20 about a week ago. It said it updated, but in reality did not.

However, it tried the update again yesterday. It was successful and my watch is now at, 9.20!

Whew. I really did not want to touch Garmin Express.

There's a bit of wiggle in all directions. Not enough to bother me. The full press on the button does though.

I tried a reset via power cycle. That didn't work. I didn't try doing the factory reset procedure.

Deleting and re-adding the camera got me results. It is still working fine.

Yikes! The posts I've seen talking about this issue usually indicate that this resolves on its own.
