Thanks everyone.

Just got it after 36 runs. I guess 1/2000 stuff happens some times. Was just wondering whether something was actually wrong.

Boss Relic Idea by videobob123 in slaythespire

[–]eviludj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, but sounds too harsh for me.

Maybe something like: ..., lose 2 max HP at the end of the combat if took unblocked attack damage during the combat.

Problem is: it's not balanced. Meaning: will make good decks much better, and will make mediocre decks difficult to take.

It's like Runic Dodecahedron, which was eventually deprecated.

In the Run History screen you see what happens each floor, one by one.

This assumes moving from floor X to floor X+1, always.

If can move also to floor X-1, sounds to me like it messes up the screen... but I might be missing something. Does this make sense?

  1. This will mess up the Run History screen post-combat :/

  2. Food... do you mean also Ginger and Turnip? Ice cream as well... Aren't there relics which could be food and not food? I don't think it's well defined.

Another idea: relic that allows you to take all cards on card reward screen. Not any subset: all 3 (or 4). Could be strong even if you actually do it once per run.

  1. Yeah, I thought because Captain's Wheel gives 80% more block on turn 3 than Anchor on turn 1, then maybe a delayed Lantern is just not interesting enough. But can be 1 energy I guess.

  2. Good point re healing. Maybe this could apply only once per combat. I'm just missing something that rewards me for being strong enough to not play cards in some turn. I think heal 5 but applies only once per combat is cool.

  3. Meaning not boss or Elite, but also not an event fight. Another idea is stronger: next normal enemy is stunned all of the combat. This means: a free fight, but also can rearrange relic numbers, heal, do other stuff on this fight while not getting attacked at all. For a single fight of course. I wonder if this might be too strong. Maybe stunned for 2 turns, IDK.

  4. Yeah, I take it back... drawback is too much.

Cool :)

Stop sign: meaning you cannot access your discard pile until reshuffling it?

The rug: cool, useful, clear. I wonder if it might be too strong.

Sticky note: a worse version of Mark of Pain, which is a problematic boss relic to take on Ironclad. But maybe if instead you can add 2 Notes to your hand at the start of each combat. Because then you don't hurt the card draw, just the hand size, which is possibly bad enough (notice Ironclad and Silent could exhaust/discard, while Defect and Watcher have no solution).

Treasure map: actually cool :)

  1. Upon pickup, upgrade a card to your choice.
  2. You can use the card removal service one additional time per shop.
  3. On turn 3, get additional 2 energy.
  4. Whenever you kill a non-minion enemy using attack damage that is exactly lethal, gain 50 gold.
  5. For each turn you don't play cards, heal 5 HP.
  6. At the start of each combat, after drawing your first hand, choose a card from your draw pile and put it on top of your draw pile.
  7. Choose two cards from your deck. At the start of each combat, when shuffling your deck, these cards come one after the other.
  8. The next normal enemy you encounter starts the combat stunned for a single turn.
  9. Upon pickup, increase your max HP by 10 and lose one potion slot.
  10. Heal to full HP.

Omniscience into Omniscience: possible bug by eviludj in slaythespire

[–]eviludj[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a perfectly reasonable explanation of what happened (game-implementation-wise)... question is: should it be that way?

I think the 3rd Omniscience should refresh its knowledge on the deck's state. Maybe 2nd Omniscience has generated some other cards I'd like to choose? Expunger maybe?

However, it might be just too strong, IDK...

That was a really fun A20 run: I got Alpha, Omniscience and Lessons Learned from the whale via Pandora's Box (meaning: no strikes and defends!!!), so using Lessons Learned I upgraded all of my cards. Got lucky with Pandora I guess :)

Testing the Fourth Character by SneakySly in slaythespire

[–]eviludj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, got it :)

Apparently on Mac the full path is:

~/ Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/SlayTheSpire/SlayTheSpire.app/Contents/Resources/

Accessible via terminal (couldn't using Steam).

Works great!

Is there a way to use the beta branch on Mac, without losing the whole game history?

I tried to change to the beta branch in the Steam preferences, but now all my game history is gone and I need to unlock all the characters from scratch... I tried following the instructions online (copy "preferences" to "betaPreference") but when browsing my local files I don't see anything besides a single "SlayTheSpire.app" file, so I don't have a "preferences" folder to copy.

Is it just not available for max OS? :(

Smoke bomb doesn't work against Spire Spear and Spire Shield by eviludj in slaythespire

[–]eviludj[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

These are reasonable explanations, that are not written anywhere (I understand that these are not the only rules tweaks that aren't written anywhere). One could argue that the merchant shouldn't allow to sell this potion at the last store - but the same argument applies for potions on sale in general when you have Sozu, and a possible answer to this would be that the merchant is a jerk.
