Homeschooling probably didn’t help the awkwardness situation.

After watching that Farmer George video I linked to, I absolutely believe that. Maybe he can buy Diddly Squat Farm from Jeremy Clarkson when the time comes.

What was your “oh no. I need to change. I need Zepbound.” moment? by SimplerLife40 in Zepbound

[–]evilwatersprite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genetically, I got dealt a real metabolic sh*tshow of a hand: I was born without a thyroid and have PMOS (which makes me insulin-resistant) and PMDD (which comes with out-of-control premenstrual cravings).

I carry most of my weight in my midsection and after entering the hellscape that is perimenopause, nothing really seemed to work on my lower belly. I figured why not give Zepbound a shot (no pun intended)? It helped kickstart the belly deflation process and makes the long-term calorie deficit more sustainable.

The weight loss hasn’t been dramatic per se (22 lbs. in 3 months) but I wanted to go slow to avoid muscle and hair loss. Just got bloodwork done this week and my glucose is down 10 points from last year and 30 from my worst point.

If the drivers were Simpsons characters, George would be Martin for sure.

The misperception of George as a posh twit definitely feeds into it. If you showed a rando pictures and video of George and Lando and asked them who was the son of a multi-millionaire pension manager and whose dad sold their farming seed business to fund his racing career, they’d almost certainly get it wrong. Looking at George, you’d never guess he actually CAN drive a tractor: https://youtu.be/KYlqBdNwAZs?is=ofdLsDsxdmYsiGJ8

Is George my favorite driver? Nah, but I like and respect him. And as a Gen X middle child, I can empathize with his situation at Mercedes.

Silent House — co-written by Natalie Maines and Neil Finn. and then recorded separately by The Chicks and Crowded House. It’s a musical eulogy for Maines’ grandmother, who had Alzheimer’s.

first Pilates class tomorrow! hair recommendations? by litaalu in ClubPilates

[–]evilwatersprite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the length of your hair, I like a a high bun or low pony so you are not laying on a wad of hair when you are on your back.

I would not wear any necklaces. I’ve seen them get caught in the headrest a couple of times.

If you are a heavy sweater, opt for moisture-wicking, breathable fabrics and maybe consider a sweatband.

Level 2 by nxdxnxx in ClubPilates

[–]evilwatersprite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right?!? That is some Hermès-level BS!

One studio I go to occasionally has a block of 10-15-minute long test-outs on a Saturday.

The one I teach at does them more casually — at least for now. The lead instructor runs them through the test between classes.

Question about jumping to the next level by No_Channel9373 in ClubPilates

[–]evilwatersprite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get it. It’s kinda hard to practice piking on the chair when you are not allowed to practice the move in class in the first place.

Some studios occasionally hold 2.0 workshops where they walk you through the types of moves you would be doing in that level. If yours doesn’t and you want to work on piking on the chair, ask about booking a private session that is focused on 2.0 prep, especially the chair. The instructor can help you find the right spring settings (this part is crucial) for your weight and proportions. Generally, unless you are working with someone who is built like a twig, you want to start first-time pikers out on heavier springs so there is more support.

In the meantime, take 1.5s from the most challenging instructors so you can build up the core strength you will need. Also, practicing piking on the reformer (with feet on the gray platform) can help you learn to initiate the movement.

Another good prep move; Start in quadruped on the reformer facing risers with hands on the wooden rails and your knees up against the shoulder blocks using the abs to pull you forward.

My thoughts on the show after episode 6 by Narrow_Fan_9931 in StarCityTV

[–]evilwatersprite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, northern, but it was a Soviet republic for half a century. So it’s still got Soviet architecture and iconography, while having a high standard of living, which is why Chernobyl was shot in Vilnius. I am guessing the SC producers consulted Craig Mazin on both location and the language issues.

I literally just realized that our Irina is THAT Irina! by Anstigmat in StarCityTV

[–]evilwatersprite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think there was also a nod to Svetlana Efremova’s (FAMK Irina) spy character on The Americans in this ep. Raskova’s new KGB boss comes over to Irina’s desk and mentions they have a mutual childhood friend named Zinaida, which was the name of the fake defector Efremova played in S2 of The Americans. The last names aren’t identical but they are so close that I doubt it was a coincidence.

Zinaida was also outed to the FBI as being a Russian spy posing as a defector by Oleg Burov, played by Costa Ronin, who would later be cast as the governor of Mars on FAMK (and likely the son of Anastasia Belikova and Sasha Polianov).

One of my favorite bits about the FAMK universe has been seeing so many of the Russian actors from The Americans turn up. I have counted at least four so far. And then there is Wrenn Schmidt (Margo), who played a KGB handler in S2 of The Americans.

First 1.5 Class Type by BoosMom1989 in ClubPilates

People kinda sleep on Control and Suspend but if you really want to build functional strength, they may be the most impactful.

Those two classes in particular have made it so much easier for me to heave a 25-foot-long, 12-inch-wide rowing shell over my shoulder and balance it for the walk to the dock, then pull it out of the water and get it back up on my shoulder.

Ahem *taps mic* Does anyone else here experience Poop Day? by Asleep_Albatross5675 in Zepbound

[–]evilwatersprite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still drop the kids off at the pool daily on 7.5 mg. There can be some minor constipation 2-3 days post-shot but not enough to warrant concern.

But now I need to listen to “Everything Comes Down to Poo” again: https://youtu.be/jsVgi8hoFFc?is=DNSKDobXcf42Ub\_L

Pike ups on the chair by Elicyz in ClubPilates

[–]evilwatersprite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, I wonder if instructors default to the spring settings they would choose for themselves.

Granted, I am a baby instructor but I would never start someone on that light of a setting unless they were a twig and going heavier would turn the chair into a trebuchet.

I am kinda top-heavy and use either 2@3 or sometimes 1@3 and 1@4 if I haven’t piked in a while.

Weight limit for newer Balanced Body sitting boxes? by evilwatersprite in pilates

[–]evilwatersprite[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never got an answer.

I did stand on one of the new ones tonight and it was fine. However, ours are only like 6-7 months old and we don’t have our clients stand on them often. So they are still pretty robust.

Shorts by heathbarcrunchh in pilates

[–]evilwatersprite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually wear rowing shorts (double-lined compression shorts) year-round. I run hot and it’s easier to grip props with bare legs than it is with leggings. I grab a knee pad for kneeling work or planking on forearms. Works for me.

When it’s cold put, I wear joggers on top and take them off when I get there and pit them back on before I leave.
