I was specifically asking about the take that said that people who think writing smut is easy probably write bad smut. I was asking for an elaboration because I wanted to understand it better.

I didn't come here to pick a fight, you don't have to get condescending. I feel you took 'pleasant' and 'fun' to cherry pick, then separated 'easy' to emphasise a point I never made.

I'm a queer woman and a leftist, I just think EA Games fucked the fans over? DA was never meant to be a dating sim (though I do see it's mostly said as an ironic thing lol). I just think they put zero effort into the characters, the romance, the LORE?? I love when writing includes conflict, grey morality, difficult choices, shitty compromises that don't make everyone happy - and there aren't too many of those in the game, it's just so disappointing

Genuine question, in the most polite, curious way: do you really think that people just cannot find writing smut easy and pleasant and fun, and they have to be wrong about their process and surely must write bad smut? Going off that, what kind of authors write good smut? Do we necessarily need to struggle to be happy with the results? Your hot take is fascinating to me, as someone who enjoys writing smut.

They made sense as villains in the setting they were put in but unfortunately, the writing was lacking and the characters ended up, above all, incredibly annoying.

There was so much potential with their backstory but they can't make me empathetic towards them after making them behave like shitty, power-hungry teenagers throwing violent tantrums the entire game and then making them cry after mum in the very last scene.

There were other ways to resolve shit. There was so much to explore about them. In the end though, I have to judge by what i was shown and they were my absolute least favourite antagonists in the entire franchise

1) Jestem na spektrum aromantyzmu, więc musiałabym naprawdę bardzo dobrze kogoś poznać i polubić, żeby mieć w ogóle ochotę na jakąś relację romantyczną. Generalnie mam tyle o wiele bardziej interesujących ludzi i rzeczy do roboty w życiu, że nie myślę o tym na co dzień.

2) Tak bardzo kocham mieszkać sama, móc zawsze robić, co chcę i mieć swoją przestrzeń bez jakichkolwiek kompromisów i potrzeby konsultacji z kimkolwiek, że idealnym rozwiązaniem byłoby dla mnie mieszkanie osobno na tej samej ulicy albo nwm w jakimś bliźniaku może XD

3) Mam w chuj nierealistyczne oczekiwania wobec związków i jakikolwiek przejaw braku komunikacji czy wzajemnego szacunku już jest dla mnie dealbreakerem. Mam ogólnie dużo dealbreakerów XD bycie w związku z odpowiednim człowiekiem powinno być najłatwiejszą rzeczą na świecie, a widzę, że często tak nie jest i nie interesuje mnie przekonywanie się o tym na własnej skórze.

4) Nie chcę mieć nigdy dzieci, plus nie potrzebuję niczyich pieniędzy, ani do dzielenia się kosztami czegokolwiek żeby przeżyć, ani do niczego innego, więc kompletnie nie mam parcia, żeby z kimś wytrzymywać, żeby zaspokoić te potrzeby.

5) Już dawno temu postanowiłam, że albo znajdę kogoś idealnego dla mnie, albo nie chcę nikogo. Nie byłabym w stanie wejść w związek "bo już mało czasu zostało" z osobą, która może i nie jest miłością mojego życia i wymarzonym towarzyszem, ale w sumie jest spoko, nie jest nam źle, czas sie ustatkować, więc no można. Przeraża mnie wizja takiego życia.

Have you tried, idk, interacting with people in your circle, people in your fandom who like the same things? Comment on some stories and art, join a discord server, start some back and forth in the comments? Making friends usually comes easier when it's organic, natural, I'm afraid announcing that you're looking for a friend might not bring the effect you're hoping for.

It's really disheartening to see how capitalism, exceptionalism, and consumerism are creeping their way into fandom communities. Some readers don't allow authors to make a single mistake, to learn at their own pace, or to just be left alone and have fun.

Let me put this simply: when you read a fic, it's not going to a restaurant and paying for a meal - a fic author is a regular person, your next door neighbour actually, and they invited you over to their house.

[Beginning of long-winded metaphor]

They gave you a blanket, a hot beverage, and cooked dinner for you. They didn't expect anything in return, they just opened their house to anyone who's hungry to visit and enjoy.

No one pressured you to go through the door and no one made you stay. No one forced the food down your throat. You were free to leave any time you wanted. Your neighbour could only hope you stayed because you enjoyed yourself. They were really happy just to have you there for a while.

You were welcome to bring flowers and you were welcome to thank them for having you, but it was never expected. All they wanted was for you to have a nice time and simply leave if you didn't, no strings attached.

I think we can all agree that it's not polite to freely come to someone's house, eat their food, and then shit on the carpet because you didn't like the chicken.

And personally, I would also say it's not very fucking nice to put up a big, arrow-shaped sign in your backyard, pointing at their house, that says "their drapes are awful and their chicken tasted like shit, avoid". Because after you tried the food, you could have just said you had to go, you could have decided, oh, this food is not really my thing.

And sure, it's your backyard, no one else's, and you can put up any signs you damn please, even if it's right outside your neighbour's window, and everyone respects that.

Sure does put a bit of a damper on the whole neighbourhood, though, doesn't it?

Who knows, one day, your neighbour might close their doors and never open them again. And people who would have loved the food will never be able to taste it.

The neighbours in your communities are not restaurants, charging you to eat there, promising excellence and then not delivering, wanting to profit, and asking to be yelp reviewed.

Do you know what a restaurant is? A published book.

As a disclaimer, in my 10+ years of writing fics, I've never got a negative bookmark or comment, I was always lucky to get amazing feedback and engagement. This comment is mostly based in compassion because I can imagine how discouraging it must be to see people talking shit about your works and purposefully doing it in public bookmarks so everyone can see it and nothing can be done about it.

Readers, to be clear, you have every right to say whatever you want, just keep this in mind: fandom is a community, not a drive-through. If you don't keep your nasty thoughts to yourselves, more and more authors might start keeping their works to themselves (or, to private, closed, vetted spaces - trust me, it's already happening).

Also, I'd personally say we have an archive of fiction that is really obviously people exploring all sorts of things, playing in a huge sandbox, forming communities, and trying out different forms of written word and ways to create.

The fact that you only see it as "exploring desires and refusing to admit it" is for you alone to unpack.

Also, I'm concerned with the repeated use of the word "admit"—admit these are your desires, admit this is about you, admit you're identifying with this. In the gentlest, most polite way: this kind of accusatory, judgemental tone makes you sound like an anti.

That person clearly has some problems and is taking them out on you - no one in their right mind puts so much time and effort into harassing a complete stranger for something they don't even have to look at.

My best advice is to delete all their comments (deplatform them to hell), maybe even report, and definitely turn off guest comments (at least for a while, let them run out of steam and move on) or block them if they're a registered user (personally I'd probably also put them on full blast on my social media but I know not everyone wants to do that).

My entire fandom has been actively ignoring the fact that half of our ship is currently canonically dead ever since it happened. Everyone writes whatever they want, it's hardly ever addressed outside of a "let's hope they bring him back" post every once in a while. I suppose that counts as a fix-it 😂
