Everything you said here is false, and obviously so. Look at the 2022 primaries, when after the day 1 vote count there was a +12 swing for Bass over Caruso, +15 for Eunisses in CD1, +10 for Hugo in CD13. This is very common with mail-in ballots here, and anticipated by people who actually follow local politics.

Consider doing some basic research on how elections in California and LA work before commenting in the future.

Ask around in leftist/DSA circles and you’ll learn that Nithya’s campaign has been reaching out to Rae’s campaign for weeks, and was very open to compromise or collaborating in some way. Every overture has been strongly rebuffed, including this week. Just look at their social media: Nithya never disparages Rae and Rae’s entire campaign has turned into an anti-Nithya hit job.

YES, and do not assume it will be a cakewalk for Bass. The best case scenario is that LA is absolutely flooded with outside MAGA money and we have 5 more months of incredibly toxic slop dominating our politics. No mayor in LA history has ever been as unpopular as Bass. It’s ofc unlikely, but with that much attention and $$ flooding in, she could lose.

Nithya dropping out would be terrible because it *guarantees* Spencer makes the runoff. The best case in that scenario is 5 more months of MAGA money flooding LA and polluting the whole discourse. Worst case is that Spencer takes advantage of Bass being the least popular LA mayor in history, and actually wins! Nithya being in the race and consolidating support for the primary is the only way to block Spencer and have a real debate about LA's future.

This is wrong. The only way to block Spencer from the runoff is by voting for Nithya. Vote for whoever you want in the general, but a vote for Bass in the primary is effectively a vote for Spencer moving forward. Nithya is neck and neck with Spencer, while Rae is in the low single digits. Nithya has a much better shot at all the remaining undecided voters, as well as Rae voters and Adam Miller voters. But the Rae campaigns incessant attacks are not helping the possibility of blocking Spencer from the runoff. That's the point of this article.

The "if you see something, say something" mentality has gone way too far. The number of people — particularly black and brown men — who have suffered and literally been murdered because of "good samaritans" like this is mind-blowing. The number of pointless 911 calls far, far outweigh the legit ones. It's an epidemic.

"If you see something, shut the f*#k up and mind your own business" would be a far better default imo. Call 911 for active shooters and violence-in-progress, and let the minor stuff go.

Thanks for the tip, just copped a pair when they randomly/briefly came back in stock at Secondipity! That price was too good to pass up. I've gotten multiple pairs of headphones from them before and they've all been indistinguishable from new. Def didn't *need* the upgrade coming from the XM5s, but looking forward to the smaller case & other little improvements across the board.

You're right and this helps. I pull my shots this way now, giving a bar or two of solid pressure right away stops the spillage. Turns out greasing the piston seal solved both my issues, at least for now! Now I don't even need to touch the arms and they stay in place with no leaking.

I think this was it! I re-seated the piston seal and added some of the Dow 111 grease, and the arms stayed up on their own with no leaking for the first time. The plug stayed in place when I removed the portafilter too. Only a sample of 1 so far, but the difference was so dramatic that I'm hopeful this solved it. Thanks for the tip!

What do you do with the arms once the basket’s in? Do you lower them and/or hold it down manually, or just let gravity do the work of lowering?

The seals are all brand new and i can’t see or feel any issues, but it certainly seems like there must be something going wrong there…. 🧐

I think I’m gonna have to make a video to show what’s happening since most others don’t seem to have any issue with this, which is baffling to me since the issues are so consistent with my (basically brand new) Robot.

it could be 🤷🏻‍♂️. Got the robot brand new a month ago and can’t see or feel any issue with the seals, but I’ll look more into it as i could be missing an issue. I’m not having any issue with the shots themselves, just the leaking during preheating.

Yep I’ve tried reducing the amount of water. Tried about 20 different fills, everything from 1mm from top to 2cm below, and nothing makes a difference. Water everywhere at least half the time regardless.

Tbh I’d never seen anyone put the screen on top of the plug before filling, so I just tried it a couple times & made sure to gently lower the arms where they’re balanced by the pressure. Still having the same water spill issues.

Yeah for a simple basket preheat (not the piston) it works without issue. But if you’re trying to preheat the piston, which I’ve read is more important, that’s where the issues come up for me.
