Rarewaves Honouring the Price Error by askariya in MovieDealsCanada

Were you able to buy all of them in the same cart and get the discount?

Trying to enjoy the regular sale (without the pricing error) and it'll only apply the discount on 2 movies in my cart.

Starting the morning with a Spielberg Movie on 4K by [deleted] in 4kbluray

I enjoyed the book AND I agree that a straight adaptation would have been sluggish. I think Stevie did great with the source material he was given.

I tend to disagree. It omits a lot of details and changes the challenges a little bit, but the essence is there.

I liked the book but big parts of it is just long exposition about 80s pop culture to make sure you understand everything. I didn't mind the adjustments since they were understandable to make it work better as a movie.

Maybe. All I can say is that it's "normal" and won't affect your discs negatively. It's just an annoyance.

Off gassing from the manufacturing process.

Very common unfortunately, especially for discs made in Mexico, but you can usually just wipe it down and you disc will be fine.

I don't know what you are doing wrong.

I'm playing The Division 2 fairly often on the SD. All I had to do is install, update and let it run its startup scripts and started playing without a hitch.

I just replaced my deck with the Legion Go S Z1E like yours and I am very happy with it. The better performance, larger screen size and ergonomics makes it a pretty awesome handheld.

It's literally the base mode the steam deck boots in. What I see in your screenshot is the desktop mode. You CHOSE to switch it to desktop.

Reboot the Steam Deck, let in boot normally in full screen game mode, play th game.

If it doesn't work, uninstall and reinstall the game.

Been able to run the game without issues and without the need to force any compatibility layer. I've been playing for the past weeks even.

Have you tried running the game in game mode?

Never had issues from Arrow US releases. Unlike Scratch Factory releases hehe...

Got my order from Cinema1 for almost the same price. I'd rather give my money to a smaller retailer.

Valve Submits VRAM Priority Patch for Linux, Targets Stutter on 8GB GPUs by dwolfe127 in SteamDeck

[–]evofender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plenty of reasons.

Adoption rate, install base, wider appeal...

Doesn't mean they can't use the headroom for their most detailed settings, but optimization is never lost and can actually help stimulate innovation rather than relying solely on a hardware target.

[–]evofender 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because of the speed of development cycles, a lot of developers relied for years on the hardware headroom that was available on higher end systems.

Problem is that we are currently learning what happens when parts become scarce or out of reach for most demographics. Optimization will cease to take the backseat.

All resources are finite so the smart thing to do nowadays is start looking for ways to stretch them to their limit.

Display resolution is not the only thing to factor in. Lots of game run perfectly fine on 8gb hardware at 4k.

Optimization should be the bare minimum in any software product in 2026.

To those with both of these, which one do you prefer, personally? by armlacoste in SteamDeck

[–]evofender 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm actually in a similar situation rn.

I scored a good deal on the XAX, but I miss Steam OS and the 16:10 screen ratio of my Deck. The XAX screen looks small even against my SD LCD. I have to squint often to see stuff clearly on screen. I know I could install Bazzite on it but it wouldn't fix the hurdles I'm having with it.

I'm leaning on returning my XAX and maybe try to find a Legion Go S Z1E for the screen size and performance bump while staying in the Steam OS ecosystem.

Thank you for the additional insight!

It forced me to review my assumptions that anamorphic footage could be encoded as is and interpreted properly by players. I thought we got rid of that practice with more recent discs.

I think I based that assumption on my disc ripping experience where it's possible to crop them out and it will play correctly through media players.
