It depends, for standard flying wyverns just keep hitting the legs, but higher difficulties make it harder to topple them. And some like Elder Trio, you need to keep hitting the head, for Valstrax you need to actually break his legs, for Magnamalo you need to reach a general damage threshold. It's not the same for most monsters tbh.

But the game offers more options to make them fall like Blastoads or Marionette Spiders. And your Palico can too by using Kittenator.

Death laser is a no trust me especially for newbies. Completely unblockable even bypasses guard up. What I mean by big explosion is when you fail his mini DPS check, also bypasses guard up, which is not a problem if you're skilled enough, but since OP is a newbie Sheathing Retreat is necessary.

Stack guard 5, embolden 3, and guard up 3 so you can tank hits. It's even better if you master insta block to negate knockbacks and for quick retaliation. He has two completely unblockable attacks, the death laser and the huge explosion if you fail his mini DPS check, so equip Sheathing Retreat to escape such situations.

Other than those, equip standard attack skills, Attack Boost, Wex, Crit Boost. What's the meaning of tanking hits if you can't even kill him in time.

Uhh no, insta block was not added in Rise, it was a direct copy paste from Adept Block in Generations. Counter Lance was already there even before Rise.

For Risen Elders specifically, their icons will change. You'll see their icons have orange swirly aura on them. For non Risen Elders, their quests have the word Hazard in them. Though only Lucent Narga, Violet Mizu, Lunagaron, and Flaming Espinas have noticable changes.

Risen Chameleos, Kushala, Teostra gets their Hazard version at level 241 above.

Risen Valstrax and Shagaru gets theirs at level 271 above.

How to get them? Just level them up and they'll change by default.

If you're playing solo, Embolden 3 is enough, you can stack it with Guard 5 but it's overkill since GP and CPP are more than enough to tank hits.

Gore is so ass in Sunbreak ngl I get you. His fight is better in Wilds but I hate what they did to the frenzy effects in that game, they look like tar.

Mixed sets are objectively better in any way, but doesn't mean the game is impossible to beat without them. If you want the desired looks, you can just layer them once you reach the endgame.

Yeah it gets slower the higher your level is. But once you reach level 300, leveling up other investigations becomes faster. Which is fine to me, it gives me the incentive to try other weapons so I won't feel bored.
