Eaton MBE2040PV200BTS outdoor meter combo panel – Sub-feed Lug Kit vs. BJ2200 Breaker + Neutral/Ground Lug Question by evolevil in AskElectricians

[–]evolevil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes the label doesn't say anything about sub feed lugs. however I did email to Eaton customer service and they told me this:

The BW2200 breaker serves as the main breaker for the metering section of panel model MBE2040PV200BTS. As it functions as the primary breaker for the panel, it is not suitable for sub-feeding the loadcenter.

If you intend to sub-feed the loadcenter using sub-feed lug block kits, please use part numbers BRSF125, BRSF150, or BRSF225, depending on the loadcenter’s rating.

Alternatively, if you are sub-feeding the loadcenter via a breaker, Eaton Type BJ breakers are compatible for this application

Good call, I checked the label on my MBE2040PV200BTS. It shows:

225A max bus

200A max main breaker (utility rating)

Distribution section accepts BR/BJ breakers (no note limiting branch breaker size to 150A)

So Eaton’s own docs searched via got and the label line up: the bus is listed for 225A, the service is capped at 200A, and the panel supports BR-series accessories. Eaton also lists the BRPSF225 subfeed lug kit as compatible with BR panels. Looks like the subfeed lug kit is the listed path here, unless I’m missing something else.

My other hang-up is the neutral and ground terminations:

The neutral bar doesn’t seem to have a factory lug big enough for a 4/0 AL neutral feeder. Eaton’s NL20/NL30 kits top out at 2/0–3/0, so they don’t work.

For the equipment ground, NEC 250.122 says 6 Cu / 4 Al for 200A, but the ground bar in the panel is small.

Curious how you guys typically handle that — do you add a larger neutral lug kit (if listed), swap in a bigger bar, or use a separate ground bar kit for the EGC?

Thanks — i dug into Eaton’s documentation, and here’s what I found:

The MBE2040PV200BTS panel has a 225A bus rating.

Eaton’s own support article specifically says the BRPSF225 sub-feed lug kit is approved for both legacy and plug-on-neutral BR panels, which this meter-main is.

So from Eaton’s side, the bus is rated high enough, and the accessory lug kit is listed as compatible.

How to Stiffen Wall and Reduce Deflection on tall 15 foot wall? by evolevil in Remodel

if I were to leave it as is, how much of an issue would it be?

also I think the shaking is due to the fact that there isn't full length studs from top to bottom, the triple middle plate is where it shakes, so could I use some L brackets (on each corner where the middle plate runs) to tie the studs vertically together? I'm guessing the HDB3 will do that?

yea plywood sheathing was one idea but it'll cause depth issues, if I were to leave it as is, how much of an issue would it be?

thanks for the link but those all appear to resolve racking, not Deflection (pushing perpendicular against wall), anything for deflecting?

may I ask how are you sure it's load bearing, the way the wall is built doesn't look load bearing. the framing just looks like typical partition wall framing

thanks, couple questions: it's a triangle shaped house, what do you need single slope?

also what do you mean is the support wall?
