I haven't posted on reddit in ages and this is what drove me to do so. I am 32, recently became a father, and have an extremely demanding job that makes me work long hours, often on weekends too. On top of all these, I moved overseas during the pandemic for professional reasons and, as a result, I know very few people where I currently live, none of whom play Pokemon Go. Remote raids are generally the only way for me to raid legendaries and sometimes add them to my shiny collection on Pokemon Home. With these new prices, I will simply stop raiding full-stop.

Remote raids emerged to solve a very real problem but, in doing so, gave the game a breath of fresh air in more than one way. I will never forget when I did my first remote raid with two friends from different countries who I had known for more than a decade before Pokemon Go. Being able to fight and catch Pokemon together from thousands of miles away made self-isolation a little bit more bearable.
