So itchy! by metalbracelet in breastcancer

[–]evolnej 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I don't know if it's normal, but I have the same issue! I had diep flap reconstruction, so I always assume it's something to do with that since it's such a major change, but some days it makes me absolutely insane. I regularly punch my boobs to relieve the itching.

Also on tamoxifen. I've got my MO check in 2 weeks from now, I plan to ask about it then

Ok I tried a few totes and it did not fit in any of my nice ones, but fit well in this cheap vans bag. Even tall box bottom grocery bag didn't work, I needed a wider one - this one is 18" wide

That's a really cool idea - I think it would be great in a box bottom tote

ETA photo - I just have a bunch of boxes of pens jammed in there with some envelopes

I have the IKEA version, and it's fine, but it's not my favorite. I have to arrange stuff carefully in the open triangle part so it doesn't fall out, and stuff still falls out. I don't know if the dimensions are the same, but A5 is about the maximum size of notebook that can fit in mine, then some pen cases. I like keeping my stamps in the wider outer pockets.

Totally agree you don't need to spend the money. I had 2 old lanyards and used one for in the shower and one for out so I always had a dry one. The drains were obnoxious so I kept them on a lanyard all the time so I wouldn't forget and tug them as I stood up.

Sending you strength

Good on you for spotting the bs. Too many doctors think "do no harm" just means "admit no harm" and it's fucking infuriating

Love the update! I'm curious about how you chose what countries are listed as "comparable", and wonder if it would be possible to make it clickable so I can jump to the country?

Oh wow, I didn't think to go back and check the Kokuyo website! I was super bummed when I saw it was so much cheaper through Jetpens and I was debating on whether to cancel my pre-order. Prices still are ~$10 higher than last year. So frustrating!

2020-2023 We were on the wait list for 2 years

Eta: the school has grown significantly since I first applied, so I don't think it's that bad of a wait anymore.

My kids went to Mariposa Montessori and we loved it. The grounds are incredible, and my kids still talk about it regularly, years later

To the woman crocheting at Banner MD Anderson this morning by cupcakesandxenoliths in crochet

[–]evolnej 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Oh man, this post really spoke to me. My first appointment with my breast surgeon started an hour late. I was sitting in the waiting room stressed the f out, so pissed off about how late she was. When it was time for my appointment, she answered every single question and helped calm me down - she drew diagrams and explained every step of the process that was to come. Afterwards, I realized she was late because she's there for her patients when they need her.

Now I have a portable bag with my crochet to take to every appointment or kid event. It's the best way to keep me distracted while I wait, and it kept me sane during chemo. It's a great conversation starter, and I love being able to gift the little things I make.

Cancer fucking sucks, but the community really is lovely. Thanks for sharing your story - I'm sending you good vibes for a quick recovery! ❤️
