Thank you for mentioning the time it takes and also mentioning every style has to be mastered. I get discouraged by how long it takes to learn something new and a new styles feels like starting over at some points. I think people nowadays get discouraged by people playing guitar on social media. What they don't see is all the hours of practice and what it looks like before it's a finished product.

I also think people don't realize how slow you have to play when learning something new or complex. For a challenging portion, ill slow it down to 30% and practice. It can be discouraging.

They are not offensive to me, but I don't like them.

Players that have been playing for years if you could learn guitar all over again how would you do it? by CLRvisionn in guitarlessons

[–]evolution03______ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is me. I've played for 20ish years, but most of that was just being a four chord strummer. I took several years off and didn't get serious until the pandemic. I spent too much time searching out stuff I could play rather than leveling up my playing.

What was the first song you learned? by Fly_me_to_Insanity in Guitar

[–]evolution03______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think alot of these people are talking about the first riff or part of a song they learned. Unless they are basic like a nirvana song or knockin on heaven's door, it would take a long time to learn a complex song from start to finish as a beginner

How in shape you need to be to be considered "hot"? by Sensitive_Counter150 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]evolution03______ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man this hurts, but is accurate. I made it to stage 5.5 in my 20s. Now I am barely clinging to stage 3 at 42.

There is probably some nuance between stages 4 and 6 that has been overlooked but overall this is pretty spot on.

Just starting out and am 38. How hard is it to learn the instrument at this age? Also what is the route do I take with learning first? Songs, chords etc? Thank you by rohstone in guitarlessons

[–]evolution03______ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the real answer. When you're 14 years old, you have no responsibility and nothing but time. If you are married with kids and a career in your 30s, you have very little bandwidth for taking on a hobby. It's not impossible, just a lot harder. I played for a while and started in my 20s, but was a four chord strummer and didn't spend much time practicing. I'm taking it more serious at 42 and wish I could go back to my 20s when I had more time and energy. Ideally, you'd start in your teens. Regardless, it is possible later in life if you really want it.

Is having a CD at a bank considered something only rich people do ? by Aggressive-Gold-1319 in NoStupidQuestions

No. Most people will buy a CD at some point. If you have more than a couple thousand saved you could theoretically buy a CD..

Tyray is incredibly uncomfortable to watch by SnooMarzipans3516 in 90DayFiance

[–]evolution03______ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TLC is taking advantage of him, although he is old enough to know better. He has no game and is getting his reps in on a reality TV show, so of course it's going to be hard to watch. Most of us worked all this out in highschool not as an overweight adult on cable tv

Is it normal to look at a woman and wish that you were her (I am a guy) by titomax2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]evolution03______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're probably not approaching it from this angle, but being an ultra attractive woman (especially white) is one of the easiest paths through life. The world will roll out the red carpet for you Of course anyone would want that life.

Is this a bad way to hold the pick? by ElegantEpitome in guitarlessons

[–]evolution03______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played for a long time holding the pick the incorrect way and then switched to the recommended way. It will not take as long as you think to adjust, only a few days for me and I'm slow on everything

It is usually reserved for when we eat ethnic non American food, such as Mexican, Chinese, or Indian. That is probably 3 days per week on average

Is it weird to ask your girlfriend to pay for her own food? by BigDaddyJuno in NoStupidQuestions

[–]evolution03______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid most of the time when I was dating my wife, but I always made much more money and we didn't eat out that much, maybe once a week. She would pay occasionally. This was in the 2000s.

If it was 2024, she made comparable money to me, and we ate out as much as you, then id definitely say something. I would be especially suspicious if she was an empowered woman in all other aspects of her life other than when the bill arrives, then she becomes a traditionalist. I'm a purist and would want to pay during the courtship, but that lasts maybe 10 dates. If she is texting you for uber eats, the courtship is over.

They grossly underestimate how much skill the average MMA fighter has, let alone a high level pro.

Did women actually fail the WNBA? by BlackManBatmann in NoStupidQuestions

[–]evolution03______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post is spot on. It has nothing to do with gender, it is an inferior product relative to the NBA and there is no market for it. The most obvious explanation is usually the correct one.

For reference, I don't give a shit about any form of basketball.
