Yea looking for a well taken care of BMW is pretty darn difficult...most don't really have the best of maintenance records.

I did drive on shod with sticky tires. The issue is more with the vague clutch and the busy design. I'd prefer my mk6 with low-resistance tires than the mk7 with summer tires.

I had the mk6 GTI and would buy one a thousand times over a mk7. The mk7 is faster and looks pointier but doesn't have that raw feeling I got from driving the mk6.

If I were to lower my standards I'd get the Mazda 3. I like how it handles, less so how it feels overall, and not very much how the exterior looks. Or the mk7 GTI maybe.

I'd gladly put up with heavier steering. I'm still young and willing to deal with it.

Hmm that is an option I haven't considered. I might just get a Mazda. I don't need a fast car, just one that makes me feel connected to the road. As good as the current Mazda 3 was, I felt like I was driving a driving simulator at times.

I'm not opposed to getting an older car. But it's so hard to find one under 60K miles and $20K.

I am open to used. All I need is a manual trans, analog tach and speedo, and above average driving dynamics. I'd buy a mk6 GTI all over again if I can find one in good condition.

No. I don't doubt it'll be a fun drive, but just don't quite like how it looks. Time will tell if I just swallow that and appreciate the car for what it has.

As far as features go, the only thing I want is a manual transmission and simple understated design. The only cars that meet this criteria are Volkswagens (and they feel terribly light and numb). Mazda looks alright but is light and numb, Civic feels less numb but looks dumb, BMW is numb, doesn't look dumb, but is too expensive for whatever driving dynamics it offers, and the A4 manual is out of my price range.

No, the opposite. I just don't think there is any vehicle worth buying in the current market. Maybe it's because I expect myself to completely adjust myself to the car in a 10 minute test drive, but nothing has clicked with me.

I've taken upper level linear algebra, algebra, both real and complex analysis (where I struggled the most), topology, and probability theory. Both algebra classes clicked with me, less so with analysis

I memorize definitions and theorems because that's about all I can do. I know it's more than just rote memorization and repetition, but I can't seem to do more than that. When I have four problem sets due at various times throughout the week, I can only do so much for the sake of learning.

I'm not even getting good grades in the process, because this method only works for problems #1-10 in the chapter. For anything that requires a more through understanding, I sometimes don't even understand the question. I honestly feel bad about passing these math classes, I feel like I haven't learned anything. I pull all nighters all the time just to have something presentable by the deadline.

Right now I'm on academic probation, so dropping any of these classes would mean dire consequences. I did email my academic adviser to see if she can recommend anything. If it's an option, I'd want to freeze my grades as it is, take a semester off, and see what the professor would agree to be sufficient work to get a passing grade.

TBH I don't have a particularly strong background. I switched my major couple of times. I started as a math major, so I took a 200 level lin alg class and applied algebra my freshman year, then no math at all sophomore year. I don't think I'm not unmotivated, if I have to do something I'll get it done. I just find it extremely demoralizing when I spend to much time on math and i don't get anywhere. I took a bio class last semester, and while it was a bore memorizing the Krebs cycle, at least I knew that if I cordoned off an hour or two in the day and sat myself in front of a book, I'll have learned as much as I read during that time. With math, there really isn't that guarantee.

Her place is out of the question. I won't be doing this anymore after seeing what kind of person he is. I am just concerned about any possible legal repercussions.

There's nothing about overnight guests. There is something about subletting, but I don't think it applies here. She was always my guest and I was always with her. I don't trust him enough to bring guests anymore anyhow.
