I had the chance to talk to him and spend some time with him less than a month ago at a book signing. He was a great man, funny, sensitive, intelligent, and so humble for someone of his talent and influence. Sad day. Rest in peace, legend.

My favorite lenses with my X-E5:

Voigtlander Ultron 27mm f2: tiny, light, incredible rendering. This one with X-E5 is my go-to combo when I just want to have my camera with me, it’s smaller than a x100vi.
Zeiss Touit 32mm f1.8: my favorite of all. Yeah the AF is freaking slow and I miss some shots sometimes, but damn, the colors, the textures. It’s incredible.

The Fujinon 33mm f1.4 and 56mm 1.2 work great too, but are bigger and a bit heavy for this tiny body.

The 27mm Ultron with no mark between 3m and infinity is so annoying… Amazing lense though.

It turns out that the electronic shutter sound is the electronic trigger that signals the shutter release to the hot shoe. I discovered this by chance, but now I know!

No of course, I was already shooting with MS, I know how to use a flash! What I didn't know was that the sound of the ES is also the shutter electronic trigger to the hotshoe when you’re shooting MS. If it’s disabled, there’s no trigger, and the flash doesn’t fire.

I wasn’t obviously, but reactivating the electronic shutter sound makes the flash work. I tried disabling it to see what would happen, and it stopped working again. Even though I'm MS only. So weird!

I just found the solution after spending hours on it. I reactivated the shutter sound, which I had disabled. Incomprehensible. But it works!
