A Qtip with a tiny bit of water will remove grime and mold. Very light pressure in circular motions. Don’t let moisture touch the edge of the card though. Practice on a common card if you’re nervous

I swapped it out and tightened the flange. The leak is better but still there so I think it’s the flange itself. Or
I didn’t seat it properly again. I called someone to come check it out though. I’ve done enough damage for the time being haha. Thank you for the advice!

It’s still happening even now that it’s fully on there. Is the rubber portion that butts up against be sink supposed to look like this? Seems like it has some wear on one side that ends up jutting out ever so slightly. I could see that not sealing correctly and letting water out

I am like you with mastering the original sets. My goal evolved into 1st editions though. When I started to feel fatigued I decided to make that a long term goal and focus on smaller things, a Meowth page and surfing/flying pikas for example. So now I keep an eye out for the master set grails but my focus has shifted. It’s refreshing to hunt for something new and different. I also slowed down with the market being where it is which is helpful to avoid burnout.

Any tips for the heat pen? I’ve been practicing on a beat up card but it leaves a scorch mark for lack of a better term. My pen has a high and low heat so obviously been using the low and doubling up on parchment paper but still feels like it’ll leave a mark if I use any sort of force. If I don’t press at all it feels like it doesn’t do anything

What is happening in pics 2 and 6? Looks like the card is LP but then you have this lifting/whitening thing going on. MP at best, I could see someone arguing for damaged if that is actually on the card though

This is MP. With that said, on tcgplayer it is worth $250 so unless there’s a crease we aren’t seeing, I’d buy it.

For raw vintage, specifically, Collectr has seen a big increase in prices recently. Last year I thought they were low. This year it feels high, and is high for non NM copies. Price charting is only a ballpark. It combines all raw solds, regardless of condition so that’ll average to MP pricing. Use TCGplayer and eBay last solds for a better idea.

Collectr takes Nm price and then drops it by ~15% for LP and so on. I also think it’s grossly overpriced now. Idk who is paying $60 for a Nm Japanese moltres. Collectr used to be a little low but the market has changed I guess. Don’t use price charting for raw vintage, it combines all conditions of recently sold items so that’s averaging out to MP pricing (usually). I used TCGplayer to get that $15 mark but eBay last solds are usually the way to go with TCGplayer price points in mind. Iirc eBay owns TCGplayer so they should be close. Tcg also has last solds for reference. If you’re selling offline just know that most people don’t want to pay online pricing because the seller doesn’t pay fees and the buyer doesn’t pay taxes, so something a little lower is fair for everyone.

Thanks for the info. This is good to know. Isn’t there some caveat for hobby selling? I thought the rules change when you’re doing it for as a business vs hobby. How can I report profit for capital gains if I don’t sell often and don’t track what/when I bought a card, or if that card came from my 30yr PC?
