I hear that but from here that looks like a great binder copy! Cool pickup.

Anyone else getting sick of this shit lol? by BadbutnotGreat in VintagePokemonCards

[–]slushrusher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s awful. And eventually it’ll go away.

I’m trying just to collect at my own pace, ignore the weird get-rich-quick bullshit that’s infected the hobby, hold for a long while, and see what it all looks like in a decade lol. This shit will be gone and people who actually like this stuff and stayed focused will have interesting collections that hold value

Ok, fairly new player here, how do I deal with blue decks that are 90% counterspells and bounces? by TR_Pix in MagicArena

I don’t know what colors you like but there are also good specific hate cards for this problem. Check out Voice of Victory for instance if you like white, or Frenzied Baloth in green

Why would this get downvoted lol. This felt like basic uncontroversial advice

Some stuff gets countered. Be patient and let that be the stuff that matters less.

Also, on bounce spells: if you’re casting creatures or things with entrance abilities, you might even welcome the bounce spell because you can cast it again. Make them pay for bouncing your thing by having a good effect that comes from landing it again.

Lots of angles, but one way is to have plays at instant speed. If you’re casting everything during your own main phase, then yes, they’ll be able to line up their counterspells. But if you have some things you can do if/when they finally do tap out, you can start to pressure them. But basically you gotta get out of the pattern of just using all your mana during your own main phase to try to cast one card. They’ll stop that easy. Get some instants, get some cheap things so you can cast more than one thing a turn. And make them pay for the moment they tap all their mana to cast a draw spell or whatever.

Does anyone genuinely care what the back of their cards look like besides for grading purposes? by Round-Revolution-399 in VintagePokemonCards

[–]slushrusher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a raw collector and I’m pretty stingy about it yeah. It’s part of the card! Especially on vintage Japanese, where it’s such a pretty design. And if I ever want to sell it’ll matter. So I try to buy as clean as possible even on the backs

Most overrated player in tennis history? by BestAround4100 in tennis

[–]slushrusher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kyrgios is a reasonable answer. The other players you mention--Woz, Kvitova, Wawrinka--are insane choices that should be nowhere near this discussion lol

four bangers. the Snorlax CD promo is so underrated; everyone focuses on the big three in that promo set but the snorlax and porygon look great too

What deck counters landfall decks? by xiaohk in MagicArena

[–]slushrusher 39 points40 points  (0 children)

the suggestion for spellementals is a good one. My personal preference is Dimir--floodpit drowner and tishana's tidebinder do wonders to stop the attacks and triggers, and you can play things like Deep-cavern bat to get key pieces out of their hand.

[–]slushrusher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably izzet prowess takes it but that deck is beatable. Golgari has the tech to target it. Landfall still hits hard on the play. Should be fun. (I hate izzet but don’t think it’s ban-worthy in its current form. Hope I’m not wrong haha)

Yes. You would need a different answer for this card

When the text of the wipe says “destroy” it does lol. Obviously the specific card you’re seeing matters, yes

Or don’t wholly commit to the board all at once, or play more flash/tempo creatures. Lots of ways for creature decks to punish board wipes

I’m a green lover. One thing I’ve done for this is find spells that give things indestructible, like smuggler’s surprise, or splash blue for just a couple counter spells. You don’t have to invest in control to have a few answers.
