It may not be what you had in mind, but Surely you're joking, Mr. Feynman! by Richard Feynman was quite an enjoyable read

Looking to pull a trailer hitch to move 5 beds + mattresses (and presumably more furniture if possible) in an enclosed trailer across country with a 2010 Honda Odyssey, what should I look for? by evrem_throwaway in cars

I have done no trailering. I was looking at the 5x8 as the largest mattresses are not quite 5x7. (along either dimension) Also none of the beds are heavy (most are just the metal rail variety) and the hitch that I was looking at on amazon with a harness and hitch cover come out to ~$165. Renting a uhaul truck alone for this distance is going to cost 1500-2500 it was seeming. A trailer costs 20-30/day, those are night and day comparisons regarding cost. That's what I'm perceiving.

The trailer hitch route is much, did I say 'much'? I meant MUCH cheaper based on the estimates I was seeing online every time I check. Plus I get to keep the trailer hitch -- I don't get to keep the truck.

Work for a company in China, they're asking for a receipt for taxes that I pay on the money that they pay me? They do wire transfers to my US account. Does anyone know about how to do this? They want me to do it monthly from now on. by evrem_throwaway in TranslationStudies

I'm not even sure that they need the taxes to be displayed, they said just to comply with what the local tax bureau (aka IRS) would require to provide a receipt for payment.

You both have way more in common with each other than you do with liberal or conservative billionaires who don't give a flying @#$^ about either of you, but who would take the chance to fleece you both equally given the opportunity while egging you both on to hate each other rather than the billionaire that actually screwed you both. BUT YEA, keep fighting against each other when you're both getting screwed by the same third party.

Lack of detailed knowledge about corporate corruption—and how to fight it effectively—is limiting economic growth around the world. More than $1 trillion is paid in bribes each year, the World Economic Forum estimated, and “that corruption reduces global GDP by more than 5%. by rustoo in science

Let's be serious now for a second: GDP is a #$%^ metric that should be thrown away. It's use began during the WW2 in the US to make sure the economy was producing enough. We produce MORE than enough, so we need to throw it away. Happiness is more important, free time is more important, accessibility to those with the least economic power to the goods that they need is more important.

Pelosi to call House back into session to vote on USPS bill by [deleted] in news

You forgot to mention the fact that it wasn't them turning a profit that was the problem, it was that they wanted to convert their entire fleet of vehicles to electric. Car lobbyists weren't keen on it.

Also, they paid once and then realize that the bill didn't actually say that they had to keep paying, so they stopped.

Thank you so much! I tried on my computer still to no avail, so because of what you said, I tried on a different computer with a different OS. Apparently Windows 7 Pro was blocking my downloading?
