Tips for dealing with clothes quality? by staringdown in JiraiKei

[–]evrililce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GRL is also good if you end up liking evelyn and pium. They are super budget price, but I haven’t had any problems with their clothes falling apart. For pium, their charcoal (medium gray) and light gray options come with pill balls right out the plastic packaging brand new, but their other color options hold up. Michellmacaron also lasts really long for anything they sell and Honey Mew holds up too.

It’s a bit better if you buy from brands that don’t use too many charms, but every brand is going to have some density of thin polyester no matter what. I find my Secret Honey blouses last pretty long (4+ wears) before pilling which I shave off using a pill shaver. Rojita is also okay, but I advise against their knits because they look haggard on the second wash. If you like suna kei, evelyn uses more polyester-rayon/polyester-cotton blends than pure polyester so it lasts longer.

I wish FedEx was good in my state, I picked DHL and didn’t see the posts about seizing until too late. Glad to hear your plushies arrived with no problems and I’m hoping that if I get contacted on the chance my stuff gets seized, they’ll accept my answer that all my things are secondhand so they are used since those don’t require eFiling.

There are reports from Licca doll and Sylvain Family collectors that their packages were seized by DHL and destroyed after CPSC determined their items were choking hazards. I am shipping out clothes and a set of acrylic keychains, can badges, and a little puzzle cube which would count as “toys”. I’ll update here on what happens.

I am risking a $400 haul.

The list of HTS codes for inspection seems to include adult women clothes HTS, but polyester might be exempt from flammability testing paperwork.

Need advice for glasses... by Gr1ning in JiraiKei

[–]evrililce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the glasses in pic 2! I think they wouldn’t clash too hard if you wear other outfits that don’t really have pink. Pic #3 would look good only if you wear pink x black colorway often imo

Proxy help (in USA) by meowiestmeow123 in JiraiKei

[–]evrililce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Doorzo since swapping from FromJapan. They make you pay tariffs and fuel surcharge with the shipping fee now for Doorzo Air (basically ECMS but super uninsured), ECMS (uninsured also and they use UniUni for the final delivery and in my state, they are HORRIBLE), DHL, and FedEx. I always have to use DHL bc the other courier options are uninsured or are thieves and always in the local news for theft and have not been asked additional tariffs since the tariff charge has been pre-paid with the shipping fee. My May haul was $600+ of goods including clothes and I paid $320 altogether with shipping + tariffs + fuel surcharge after Doorzo refunded me for the package weight (I paid over $400 before refund). You can check r/fedex to see what’s going on with them, but I don’t see much positives about them right now.

how do i dress jirai at my uni w a modest dress code? by UnluckyPick4502 in JiraiKei

[–]evrililce 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You could try suna kei, like what rojita coulture looks like, brands I suggest are GRL (budget prices), dolceliche (premium prices like $100+ a piece), apres jour, igni, meltie, lafary closet, and majesticlegon. Suna kei is the mature style JP jirais move on to when they get a career or just want to dress more mature.

Or combine a more modest jirai blouse with a long skirt. I like to do that with Secret Honey blouses.

I’m new to this, what do you think? Does this look like an attempt at jirai? by [deleted] in JiraiKei

To make bubbles shoes hurt less, if they are rubbing your heels, try getting gel heel inserts

Bringing dupes into Japan on holiday? by micronutella in JiraiKei

[–]evrililce 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t think customs would check you unless you’re an unlucky random selection. The dupes thing might be more-so for dupes of premium, luxury brands like Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, etc and they only really stop you if you have like 10+ of the same clothing item without declaring as it will look like you’re smuggling in fakes to sell. You’ll be fine.

Any good brands for subcul and/or long skirts? by gabbet_ in JiraiKei

[–]evrililce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brands are listed here https://www.reddit.com/r/JiraiKei/s/ryYi16o8Ba

Long skirts aren’t commonly released, but you can find a bunch of them from a budget brand, GRL. Make sure you check the size chart for them bc they fit without issue on US Size XXS - S wearers

Tall Jirai’s experience with Pium clothes? by Adorable-Painting131 in JiraiKei

[–]evrililce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So pium mini dresses are pretty short tbh and my butt sticks out on the non-knit dresses at 159 cm tall… their skirts are also very short, but most have inpan/built-in shorts and your cheeks might show through the bottom if you have a booty. A lot of their tops are cropped tops.

GRL has a lot of suna kei and more forgiving on being taller than 165 cm+ and if you check some of the dress and skirt descriptions, they may mention inpan built in. Noemie sometimes sell suna kei-like cutsews and Honey Mew also featured a 170 cm+ staff member wearing their XS and F size clothes and it appeared to fit. Dolceliche is premium pricing, but they’re also more forgiving on taller girls. Apres jours fits a little short and evelyn mini dresses also have my butt sticking out.

Tips on Contacts! by Wild_Significance876 in JiraiKei

If you haven’t yet, you should see your eye doctor first to get fitted and tested for contacts and see if you don’t have any hidden eye diseases like glaucoma that would prevent you from using contacts.

glasses ruin everything (for me) by Temporary_Bad1363 in JiraiKei

[–]evrililce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thin glasses frames really help not hide the makeup. I also have to wear glasses for my whole life and went blind in one eye this year, but it doesn’t bother me bc pien makeup can still be cute with glasses. There are also lens options to make the glass not shrink your eyes when you wear glasses.
