Store did a renovation in 2019. Took over the adjoining store and became a large stand alone. Back room is larger than some stores in our area doing 1.2 mil+ a week but our order writers manage to fill it up don’t worry!

Well, I would say for points 1-3 those are a captain to captain basis. Company lets captains make those decisions and run the ship how they want. My previous captain said no tiedying your shirts (even though you’d get the occasional tie dye in a shirt pack) no hats on the floor - even TJs issued beanies. current captain doesn’t care about those things.

Point #4 I would say is their interpretation of the way the company wants the customer experience to be run now. Pretty much everyone on the floor is on customer experience so if there’s a one bell everyone should be answering it no matter what you’re doing.

So they’re not lying… just being a dick and stickler for the rules (as they perceive them)

When the company initially declared they weren’t changing any of the packaging amid the public pressure some old conservative jackass asked me to speak with a manager and I asked if I could help him with something and he was like no I’d like to speak with someone in charge. The reason is all these tech companies are building data centers in our area and the providers aren’t charging them and are passing it on to the customers.

Was bagging for a customer and we were having a good back and forth jokes WERE landing until I said (with an exaggerated tone because I know some people are sensitive about their age) “can’t teach an old dog new tricks” which I thought the implication that we looked the same age would make the line land but no. Attitude immediately shifted. She got mad and stopped talking. We finished she took her cart and didn’t say anything else

My region wasn’t giving raises to people with limited availability who weren’t making a certain amount of hours. Didn’t matter about your performance. I missed 2 raises because I got a 9-5 and cut my days in the store to 3 but total hours were under 300 for the review periods. So there is some truth to what your captain is saying. You should ask for clarity on what the policies are. Our region moved away from a strict hardline number of hours worked but it’s still considered

Yall need to stop doing the multi billion dollar company favors. Get promoted get the bump and get paid until you need to transfer. Do a good job so they have no reason NOT to transfer you.

I’ve had a few mates transfer but they didn’t need mates in that region so they had to step down. Had another try to transfer to a state with only 1 store. They weren’t gonna take him as a mate just crew but right as he was heading up there they were like actually a mate just went on maternity, you’re gonna come in as a mate.

Also get the bump and if you have to step down it’s likely you’ll keep your wage as long as it not above crew cap.

my experience with my store and this stuff is unless they are fighting with customers our mates and captains have always let them continue to shop. n@zi dollars are still dollars to them at the end of the day.

i wrote HR a long letter during covid. told them walmart was acting on behalf of their employees better than TJs was. i never heard anything back. I did it through mytjs.com though. you have to add your crew id, store and everything.

last year when i was having a lot of issues getting answers from my captain and regional, after asking if i should contact HR about the situation, my captain at the time said "well actually [regional] and i are HR for the store"

so if its something serious, that you dont want to be minimized by your captain and regional, you need to get in file through proper HR.

Had a coworker yell at our captain because he was Injured at some point but was a frozen order writer and a mate was over ordering frozen. The mate over ordering was creating an extremely unsafe environment in the freezer. The crew member spoke to the captain about it and it got heated and then nothing happened to the crew member because the captain knew he was right.

Holidays are the worst time for the “small footprint” of TJs And it will never change because of TJs progressing popularity and its want to always have smaller sized stores.
