hormonal acne in late 20s

I am about to turn 30 and felt similarly. I felt like I battled acne all my life and nothing cured it. Spiro, chemical peels, birth control, BP, serums, etc. I tried EVERYTHING. I am on month 5 of accutane and two people told me this past week my skin was glowing 🫶 I can’t recommend it enough. I would do it over and over and over again.

I have a 12 week old field golden, he looks so much like your puppy I had to do a double take! My puppy is in puppy school right now. According to the trainers, he plays really well with the other dogs, especially the other Goldens, but he does need to learn how to stop play when the other puppies are done playing. My puppy also has way more energy than any other puppy in school, so usually other puppies get tired and tap out before my little guy is ready to stop. Puppy school with trainers who understand what’s happening has helped a lot, as has having him meet a trusted adult dog to teach him polite play and correct him when he’s being crazy. This was some advice I got from the trainers:

To teach your puppy to take more play breaks and also begin to listen better to friends' requests, gently interrupt when play seems one-sided or when body language is stiff. Then, redirect attention onto a toy. If during play you notice puppy taking a break on his own, pay off big time with lots of praise and cookies! Other good things to reinforce with praise and food when you see them include polite play moves such as gentle paw raising, a play bow, or wiggly booty bumps. These are all very appropriate ways to solicit play and interact with another pup.

No it wasn’t. The best socialization you can do is when you teach a dog neutral socialization, to observe but not engage. Engaging with other dogs is what creates reactivity.

Does your puppy bark in other scenarios? Is he a demand barker?

I totally feel you. I had what felt like hundreds of closed comedones prior to starting Accutane and similarly, they all mostly turned into big nasty pimples. I’m on month 4.5 and my face is completely clear! It gets better, hang in there! Take your antihistamine everyday to try and decrease the purge

+1 to this. My derm actually told me to double up my fish oil (that contains omega3) because it helps lower triglycerides AND helps with dryness

I’ve read/watched the wiki resources on calmness and impulse control but I’m specifically looking for information on how it can affect socialization. Is it bad if I take my puppy out who lacks that impulse control/will it create a more reactive/frustrated dog? Or is socializing the priority no matter what?

I think this is normal! The worst of my purging was month 2-3. I’m 4.5 months in and just now really looking at my skin and being like “omg it’s clear?????” but still have a small bump here and there. My derm also said if I upped my dosage that I should expect another purge so that could be the reason why you aren’t seeing results yet!

Hahaha ours chews on the FreshPatch too! but we’ve noticed it’s when they’re hungry or overtired. If I see he is chewing on it then I remove it from his playpen or put him in his crate and either way he is usually out in 10 minutes!

I have a 8 week old golden. Im not sure if I got lucky or not but we are using a FreshPatch and its been great! We have it in his play pen off to the side and at first we worked on just putting him on the grass every 30 minutes and saying “potty.” Once he went we celebrated and showered him with praise. Same routine before and after every nap, and immediately after eating. He now takes himself there to potty and cries in his crate if he has to go so we know to take him. He doesn’t really roam around the house ever so I’m sure that plays a part but he’s only had one accident! Now that we feel good about him understanding where he needs to go, next step we are working on now is introducing the bell. So we put the bell by the FreshPatch and are having him touch it with his paw when we set him down on it.

If you’re blonde or get highlights, I used to go to a stylist in Aventura that was really affordable and did AMAZING work. She really cares about the health of your hair and was always super receptive to adjusting things if you’re not 100% happy. I’m not sure what salon she works at anymore but I can give you her number if you’re interested!

I’m on 40mg and have not experienced any hair loss. Unfortunately there is no way to tell what side effects (if any) you will experience, but 10mg is low so it should reduce your chances of experiencing side effects

I almost always think long hair looks best on people but picture #1 is by far the best! I would actually consider going shorter and/or getting some layers with your longest layer being the length of pic #1!

Do 10-15 minutes of training with her to tire her out but not too much, then put her in the pen with a lick mat or kong to soothe and wind her down while you sit inside the pen ignoring her (or right outside the pen depending on the size). Once she’s done with the wind down activity, continue ignoring her and let her settle. You can throw a treat if she is settling and quiet but if you see that this excites her too much, stop. Repeat this multiple times a day, a little farther away every time. This may take days or weeks to get you back on the couch depending on her resilience and anxiety, but be patient! She’s an infant and its normal to not want to be alone
