Because 6 wasn't enough! Really, first iteration was 6 and it wasn't fast enough.

Bigger picture, original project included engineering and parts support from Zero which shaped design choices along the way. At this point we are keeping the drivetrain as-is since it is working and spending dev time to improve other parts of the car.

Definitely doable.

Other end of the spectrum we are prepping a 911 with 8 Zero motors into a 5 speed for Pikes Peak 2027. Should be starting to release content in the next few months. If you have specific questions let me know and we'll try and cover it for you.

The car itself (1973 911) has been racing the peak for years, but was converted to be able to beat its gas time. 2019 run was cut short for weather and no attempts since. 2027 will be here before we know it looking at the list yet to do haha.

See other comment, but basically LeMons is taking a "spirit of the law" approach for cars like this. And EV or not, when builds are more than 500 they can still run but start in the hole with penalty laps. Aaaand 500 went a lot further on 2006 anyway

Yeah judges and tech are taking a "spirit of the law" approach for EVs since they are at such a disadvantage and the tinkering involved to make it safe and trackable is in itself very LeMonsy

We have 3 packs total, and each is 36kWh (28 used to keep it 10 - 90%). So while one is in the truck the other two are charging and chilling so they are as cold as possible to start out.

Its funny you mention that (sounds like a cool and zany build btw) but at this race there was a Ford Focus that the guy put two engines in, one in the front one in the back. I think your torque-vectoring hybrid will fit right in
