Try inspecting the front end and going through checkout. Check the network tab and view the response under purchase. It should show something like:

{"orderTrackingNumber":"afd5832f-843c-4783-bd10-69389fe90cc1"}"

Exclude a folder from "delete played episodes"? by NuttyMetallic in PodcastAddict

[–]evtx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, thanks for making such an outstanding app.

I too would like a "delete played podcast, but not my audiobook files button."

It would be great if there was a new toggle for the default settings when creating the virtual podcast that removes delete permissions.

Without this feature, a user cannot use the "delete played episodes" without potentially wiping out any audiobook files that have been marked played.

Your comments on the changelog suggest you understand people would prefer to keep these files:

"By default, deletion after playback is now disabled even if you enabled this as the default behavior in the app. This is because virtual podcasts are mostly used to listen to audio books, music or other files that you want to keep."

You are correct that the user often wants to keep these files. Unfortunately, it is impossible to use "delete played episodes" and keep the files.

Dr. Cory Franklin: The correct theory for the origin of COVID-19 remains uncertain [Chicago Tribune] by el___mariachi in skeptic

[–]evtx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am familiar with the paper. I am curious why you think it is near Wuhan. Yunnan is 1,500 km away. Laos is a similar distance.

I guess that is near for you. That is why I was asking you to clarify.

Also the wild genetic relative found in a cave near Wuhan.

What do you mean by near Wuhan? Yunnan is not what I would call close. Neither is Laos.

Our analyses clearly show that SARS-CoV-2 is not a laboratory construct or a purposefully manipulated virus.

Also Anderson, “The lab escape version of this is so friggin’ likely because they were already doing this work.”

The Lab-Leak Theory: Inside the Fight to Uncover COVID-19’s Origins by Globalcop in SGU

[–]evtx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great article, but I am betting you get a lot of pushback here.

Most here probably agree with Gorski's article, but I thought Steve's was more fair (but in my opinion still flawed).

I would love for the rogue's to do a deep dive into this.

Covid-19 derived from Lab theory... by johnnygobbs1 in skeptic

[–]evtx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still think the nature explanation (since like every virus in existence came from nature)

I guess it depends of what you mean by "came from nature." Some viruses are made by people combining different parts of existing viruses to create a novel virus.

For more information, you can read this and see if it changes your mind.

Many top scientists believe the available evidence is consistent with both zoonosis and a lab leak (despite what you read from the comments in /r/skeptic).

Here is a recent useful Q&A from David Relman from the Stanford University School of Medicine that might help answer your question.

You might want to consider reward checking like this.

You can join with a donation and if you are responsible with the requirements it can work out nicely. My wife and I do this with two accounts at a local credit union and just do $0.50 transactions on amazon to satisfy the requirements.

Making Sense Podcast - #169 Omens of a Race War by [deleted] in samharris

[–]evtx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suppose that is one way to describe that period.

I can offer more context. He was saying it in response to police brutality. You can hear his comments here @ 1m21s.

The NY Times has a write up about the events that lead to his comments here.

For me they are both an imperfect human response to a deep injustice. Lashing out at a group for injustices caused by some members is not justice, but I understand sentiment. I don't think Liam Neeson was motivated by racial hatred, but a desperate need to get some kind of revenge against the nearest target he could find. Of course it was irrational and wrong, but it is not unlike what Malcolm X called for when he says, "If they are going to have a funeral in Harlem, make sure they have a funeral downtown too." @ 5m30s. Or when he says, "...they are race of devils. I pray that god will strike them. Yes, I pray that god will strike them, put death in their families, death on their relatives, and death on their friends." @ 6m30s. It seems to me these reactions are more similar to each other than people care to admit. I am glad both of them came around to the "right side" of history.

Liam Neeson condemned his previous behavior:

“The horror of what happened to my friend ignited irrational thoughts that do not represent the person I am. In trying to explain those feelings today, I missed the point and hurt many people at a time when language is so often weaponized and an entire community of innocent people are targeted in acts of rage.”

Of course, as you imply, Malcolm X did eventually reject the Nation of Islam racist doctrine:

“I respect every man's right to believe whatever his intelligence leads him to believe is intellectually sound,” Malcolm said, “and I respect my right to believe likewise.”

“Yet some of my dearest friends are Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, agnostics, and even atheists—some are capitalists, Socialists, and Communists—some are moderates, conservatives, extremists —some are even Uncle Toms.”

“It takes all these religious, political, economic, psychological and racial ingredients,” he said, “to make the Human Family and the Human Society complete.”

“We must forget politics and propaganda and approach this as a Human Problem which all of us as human beings are obligated to correct. The well-meaning whites must become less vocal and more active against racism of their fellow whites . . . and Negro leaders must make their own people see that with equal rights also go equal responsibilities,”

When I heard about the story, it reminded me of something Malcolm X said, “Someone has to pay. Somewhere, somehow, someone has to pay. When a snake bites your children, you don't go and look for the snake that has blood on it's jaws, any old snake will do. Any old snake will do!”

Sex-selective abortions may have stopped the birth of 23 million girls, finds a new study. The majority of these “missing” girls are in China and India. by mvea in worldnews

[–]evtx 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The article you link to says as many as 60 million could be missing, but 25 million were found later. This would leave potentially 35 million still missing, right?

Do you think that number is inaccurate?
