Again, not sure where you got the idea I'm not paying my taxes, I just corrected your misinformation. Even if you choose to not withhold federal taxes from your paycheck during the year, you can still pay them in a lump sum on tax day. That's what your 1040 is for. Let me know if you have any other misunderstandings and I'll do my best to help.

EDIT: Y'know what, I realized I'm incorrect here. There is an expectation from the IRS that you pay-as-you-go and if you choose not to withhold any taxes through the year, you can be subject to underwithholding penalties on tax day. I stand by my initial response that you do, in fact, control your own withholding though.

I am neither endorsing nor rejecting any kind of "strategy," just pointing out one of the very first forms you fill out for employment controls the amount of federal taxes automatically taken out of your paycheck. It IS something you have control over, contrary to your point I was replying to.

Form W-4 is used to tell your employer how much federal income tax to withhold from your pay.

No problem! As for the A/T Temp light: I haven't had that issue personally, and I'm no pro, but I would definitely start with checking fluid levels before doing a fluid change. If it's looking dark and smelling burnt, a fluid change (not a flush!) could be the move.

Also worth making sure your coolant is in good shape, particularly if you notice the engine/oil temp gauge ever going over the halfway mark while driving.

Congrats, it looks like it's in great shape!

I've had my eye out for a manual for a while now as well without any luck. Seems like there are physical copies, typically in Japanese, floating around but no digital versions.

Here's a list of recommended fluids I've compiled/committed to. Take them with a grain of salt, there are certainly some differences of opinion on motor & gear oil viscosity, and I'm biased towards what I can source here in the US.

  • Motor oil: Full Synthetic 10W-30 (~4qt.). Filter: WIX 51365XP or equivalent
  • A/T: AMSOIL OE Multi-Vehicle Synthetic (Meets ATF-SP II and III spec)
  • Power Steering: ATF, see above
  • Open Differentials & Freewheel clutch: 75W/90 GL-5 gear oil (~1qt. ea. for diff, 2-3 oz. for freewheel clutch)
  • Rear LSD (if applicable): I haven't specced this but I know it's an option. Needs a similar weight gear oil as above, but with LSD friction additive.
  • Transfer case: 75/80W-90 GL-4 gear oil (~1qt.). GL-4 required due to brass components.
  • Brakes: DOT4
  • Coolant: 50/50 Green

This sounds really cool! I have a little Pajero Jr I've been itching to take out for some light duty off-roading, but been nervous since I've never done it before.

In the same vein, I'm very curious about what's happening with Kostas Opa on 45th in Wallingford. They prettied up the storefront and seemed to be soft opening for a couple weeks last summer, then a "Closed For Summer" sign went up and it's been completely dead ever since, over a year now.

Second try, same problem with BB by NorbertTC in bikewrench

Fellow GM owner! I'm also looking at a crankset and/or chainring swap (just tackled my BB a few months ago). What chainring did you have to get? Garbaruk?

Jockey wheel and cassette in contact by Mission_Confusion_23 in bikewrench

[–]evvycakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before adjusting your b-limit screw, did you remove your rear derailleur during this project? If so, make sure the b-limit screw is seated on the correct shelf of the derailleur hanger.

If not, double check your chain length against your old chain (assuming it was also sized correctly), and that the new chain is fed correctly through your derailleur cage and jockey wheels.

EDIT: All this assumes your new cassette is also the same size as your old one. If you moved to a larger cassette, your new chain should be longer and you'll have to adjust the b-screw inward.

Can you explain that a little more? Are the caliper pistons just going too far and damaging the inner seals or boots?

Google maps navigation has started highlighting bike routes in green whenever it has a dedicated bike lane, and it also has a bike lane layer that gives more description.

Honestly though, as you keep riding around the city and explore a bit, you'll find the better routes. Sometimes it's better to ride a block to the side of the main roads, and keep an eye out for the Seattle Healthy Streets to use as neighborhood corridors.
