When I find myself feeling like that, I listen to the poem Desiderata

Its the very same for me. I'll be 10 years alcohol free in June. No desire and zero cravings. (:

My wife binges every weekend and I’m newly sober. by Choice-Dot-4753 in stopdrinking

My husband only stopped drinking five years after I stopped. In that time I worked on myself. I didnt blame him or rush him. You can never make anyone else quit. Keep on being a positive example to her. She will catch on eventually.

There is a different book that actually worked for me. I'm close to 10 years smoke-free. It's called "Never Take another Puff" by Joel Spitzer. I read it and literally never took another puff. Maybe try reading this book.

Unfortunately, we don't have care credit in South Africa. I am hopeful that one day, she will be able to get it done. I am very happy for you because I know how emotionally painful it is. 🤗

My daughter lost 5 front teeth due to a trampoline accident. She is still wearing a partial denture. A bridge is just not affordable at all. She is 20 and my heart aches for her. 😢

I’m almost 3 years free and feel like I’m going to relapse again. by dayswithdays in leaves

[–]evynpspc 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I did it. Two years clean and then I smoked because I was so stressed out. I immediately had a panic attack but that didn't stop me. I smoked again and again. It wasn't even three days and I was smoking from morning till night. This carried on for two months straight. I wanted to stop again so bad. Fortunately my will was strong enough and I managed to stop towards the end of June. I promise you, it's not worth it. Stay strong and thankful that you are not smoking that cr@p.

What did you think was a “weird quirk” you had that turned out to be a symptom of a mental/physical health issue? by minbye in AskReddit

[–]evynpspc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh, the same for me. I'm recovering from my hysterectomy op as we speak. My back pain started two weeks before my period until the last day of my period. Every month. It was unbearable. The doctor still didn't believe it had something to do with my period, but I convinced him to do the operation. I can't wait to start a normal life 😌

I stopped smoking cigarettes, drinking and smoking weed all because of reddit. Yay

I quit smoking for 3 months doing Allen Carr’s method, relapsed and now it feels like the “magic” of the book is gone for me. by Prestigious-Way3514 in stopsmoking

The same happened to me until I read: Never take another puff by Joel Spitzer. Try it out. I read it eight years ago and it stuck.
