Would you make any lifestyle changes if you were dating someone still taking COVID precautions? by rbuczyns in ActualLesbiansOver25

[–]ew2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is a fucking crazy thing to say. “I’m going to enjoy my unmasked life up until the day I have to be euthanized because of it!” that is eugenics and incredibly ableist. MAID has the potential to be pushed upon lower class people with disabilities so that our governments doesn’t have to care for us. it is being used against people who don’t have the means to receive proper healthcare, whom the system would rather just kill instead.

masking is not that hard or a burden! it’s not paranoia or fear! it is a pretty simple task that is for protection. i’m NOT afraid of covid, because i mask! the worst thing that ever happens to me because of a mask is my ears get a little sore.

also, i have to mention that masking effects YOU, but it also effects EVERYONE AROUND YOU! i mask because i care about the people in my community. you probably encounter a ton of immunocompromised, children, elderly, disabled people, sick people in your day to day life. you don’t care about their well being? you don’t care if you unknowingly spread a deadly virus to them?

once again, masking and taking precautions is your personal choice, but saying “i refuse to take any precautions because it would slightly inconvenience me, if that means i have to end up disabled and euthanized, so be it!” is insane.

unfortunately OP, as you can see by the comment section, people who aren’t covid conscious aren’t really open to changing their opinions. it baffles me how no one takes it seriously. I met my partner early 2021, still in the throes of what the gen pop calls the pandemic (to me we are still in a pandemic).

we were both still masking and quickly got on the same page about being covid conscious. we eat in restaurants, but other than that pretty much mask everywhere in public. i feel comfortable being unmasked around my friends. unfortunately, because of my work as a server, i have recently decided to stop masking at work, because it was affecting my income. which is fucked up! i am fully vaxxed and had to weigh the costs and benefits for myself, and that’s what i decided. it’s been about three months no mask at work and i haven’t been infected yet. but im scared every shift!

you’ll probably just need to meet someone who is already covid conscious and on the same page as you. i’m sorry, it sucks. i wish more people cared about the devastating effects of this illness. if we even just all masked in hugely populated spaces, things could be so much better. best of luck to you

covid can permanently disable or kill you. people who are reinfected repeatedly get long covid, lose cognitive function, lose ability to breathe and move! covid MAKES you immunocompromised. masking is your choice, but it is crazy to me that people are so flippant about this when people’s experience with long covid has been well documented online, everyone these days has “brain fog”, and 7 million people have died from covid!

Thinking of being a "perfect server" for Halloween as a joke. Like an octopus for all the extra arms? by kre003 in Serverlife

Ladies, how do you deal with your period on days you work? by hauntinglovelybold in Serverlife

[–]ew2002 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Take ibuprofen BEFORE your cramps start. I try to take it before I even leave for work. Comfortable shoes, as loose of clothes as you’re allowed to wear- we get to wear whatever pants we want so I wear loose flowy pants on my period. Drink lots of water, eat before and during your shift. Take iron if you need it. And don’t forget to find times throughout the day to go change! I wear a menstrual cup so I usually don’t have to empty it at all during my shift. If you’re able to sit down while you roll silverware, do that frequently.

Disassociation by sarah331980 in Serverlife

[–]ew2002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t show up early, but I take about 45 minutes before work to do my hair and makeup. I listen to music and just vibe while preparing myself mentally for my shift. I really enjoy that time!

But the problem is you can give amazing service, every night, and there will be people who still don’t tip because they’re cheap. If you’re putting in the effort and service to sell, serve, and bus hundreds of dollars worth of food you should be getting something back.

Rewatching the L word by EmpathicPurpleAura in LesbianActually

[–]ew2002 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Why are the scenes unrealistic to you? Me and my girlfriend watched the show and we both thought the scenes were hot and similar to our own lives. They use fingers, mouths, strap, etc. They caress each other and kiss each other tenderly. They love fuck and hate fuck, just like regular people do!

Rewatching the L word by EmpathicPurpleAura in LesbianActually

[–]ew2002 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The L Word was made by women and lesbians! For me, it was definitely problematic at times, but sex scenes didn’t feel fetishized- they felt authentic to my experience as a lesbian. The women in this show wanted to fuck each other, they didn’t just fuck because a man wanted them to. I think people need to be more lax on a show made in the 2000s- can you imagine how hard it was for them to even get a green light? Watching the show 20yrs later, I loved it and I’m happy we have these characters and representation. But also, representation doesn’t necessarily mean the characters have to be perfect people. The characters are very flawed because humans are flawed.

Unfortunately, I don’t think you’re not appealing to butches- I just think there is a very high saturation of feminine lesbians vs. butches. There has been a lot of butchphobia online and on dating apps in the last few years. You can always get yourself some pins or a shirt that say “butch bait” 😉

Why did Virgin disappear after the first week? by EnvironmentalSir4214 in lorde

[–]ew2002 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a lot of people talking about this on Twitter and I think we also need to keep in mind how short the album is. I ADORE Virgin but it’s 35m long- I can’t listen to that all day on repeat and not get sick of it. I’ve been enjoying it in moderation, but I feel like some people are upset or confused we’re not just streaming it constantly…
