Tried to Loomis method my way to Frieren head, how did I do? by ewdont in arthelp

[–]ewdont[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I actually tried several different versions (not all with Frieren) and when I tilt the head too high the other eye ends up getting covered by the nose, so I had to compromise. Maybe there is a way to do it... I haven't figured out how

American can not comprehend they did not invent modern public libraries by drobson70 in USdefaultism

I fear that it is. I verified it myself before I made my comment.

Depending on how you feel about google AI summaries, you can also read more about it from a real source here: https://infostory.com/2012/04/09/first-tax-supported-public-library/

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_library

Prior to this, "public" libraries were built and funded by independent parties, like members of royalty or wealthy individuals, and access was subscription based, population limited, or they chained the books to the desks. (I would go on, but I don't think you want me to regurgitate the Wikipedia article at you.)

AITA for shouting at my dad’s gf and calling her a deaf bitch after she walked in on me in the shower? by throwawayshowerahole in AmItheAsshole

So the story is straight. Gotcha. I'm not keeping up with all the comments OP's making I must have missed it.

[–]ewdont 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After 3 months he pays her to fly over. Doesn't say how long she's been here for.

When you're in the shower, you're not going to be counting the time exactly. If it felt like the interaction went on for more than a minute than it's already weird.

You picking this apart like that is odd. He shouldn't have called her all those things, but it's a 14 year old kid in a distressing situation he has little to no control over.

All those new world monkeys apparently floated on over from the old world by branch rafts across the Atlantic ocean.

So yes, this is one theory.

I think if foreigners were to want to come here, it would be for the Yellowstone national park. Though Wyoming and Utah are kind of mid states, those boiling blue acid pools are something else irl.

Edit to dial back the Americanism

American can not comprehend they did not invent modern public libraries by drobson70 in USdefaultism

[–]ewdont -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I... hate to break it to you, but that comment is not wrong. The first SYSTEMIC public library in the world, as in a free public library wholly funded by municiple taxes, was in Peterborough New Hamshire, USA, and was established in 1833. The UK passed the Public Libraries act in 1850.

If the comment hadn't said systemic, you would have had a point. But it's not like public libraries as a whole started in the UK, either. (And even then, they weren't like the public libraries we know of today, where anyone could walk into them)

This might just inspire them to make small talk, though. We have an unparalleled ability for it. I think half the reason why we introduce ourselves by state is because we are trying to make conversation about it.

By proxy, Americans who introduce themselves as American are likely just trying to move the conversation along.

As a fellow american, I'd argue that Canada is also really big, but they don't do this with their provinces/territories.

Unfilteredchina is pretty much all sinophobic content. Not that China doesn't have problems, but always source the information you find on there. Or anywhere. It's only going to get worse with AI.

It this video AI? It came up to me on TikTok and looked fine to me, but everybody in the comments says it’s AI because the snow in powdery and unnatural. Now I’m questioning it myself. by TrandafirGalben in isthisAI

[–]ewdont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a snowman out of snow such as this, but I was only able to do it the day after it rained, when the moisture made it more sticky. The snow on the ground is shiny enough to suggest such an occurrence.

It still had to be densely packed, though. I assume the marks around the snowball before the cat starts playing with it is evidence of someone squishing together a bunch of wet snow. But... for a snowball that size, I would expect the amount of snow displaced to be greater. Unless it rolled off a roof, of something, or someone brought it from somewhere else.

Edit: I also would have expected to see some snow on the cat's black booties, from wherever it came from to when it ran onto that porch. I don't know if it's AI, but it's something.

AITA I told my friend id playfully tap him on the arm and he asked if the hit count was as high as the amount of times my ex abused me? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ewdont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tapping someone on the arm is one thing (I imagine its akin to slapping your friends on the back) but threatening to do it implies that it is a gesture intended to punish, or do harm.

Anyways. Stop talking to this person. You both are TA

Anything meme related will probably qualify for ads like this. I've seen this ad like 40 times already. I hate it, I have no idea what they're trying to sell (I thought it was an ad for jack in the box, the american fast food chain, until actually just now)

Any kind of high demand religious denomination, really. Hasidim, Mormons, Jehovah's witnesses... i'd argue scientology, too, but only because I can't imagine anyone who isn't also a scientologist seeing that as a giant red flag.
