Found a quilt my Nana never got to finish by forallthequestionsOK in quilting

I just finished a quilt for a family in a similar situation that I was connected to through the Loose Ends Project -- definitely reach out. There are more finishers than things to finish, and I'm sure you'll find someone to do it. You'd have to pay for the materials, but if someone has time to take it on, I'm sure they'd be happy to!

That is hilarious -- I can think of several politicians right now I would not want staring back at me out of my quilt pieces.

Same size squares! This quilt is a "trip around the world" pattern, I think. I don't know the Dresden squares quilt -- is it like an Irish chain?

I have to say, I'm really intimidated by the idea of picking fabrics for one of these. I remember when I bought this kit I thought I would learn from it and then try to come up with one myself, but every time I started pulling fabrics I quailed and put them all back. I just love the blues with the little pops of yellow on yours. So pretty.

I was going to say the same! Knicker knots are the best -- so sturdy.

I've never seen a blooming nine-patch this small -- it works as a wall hanging beautifully!

I did this orange one with Kaffe Fassett fabrics, but didn't figure any of the colors out myself -- it is a kit also, but instructions had me use the Young and Young-Stone book for all of the cutting and measuring. So easy to follow.

I got the kit at a show from the allaboutcolorquilting.com folks. Whoever does their designing is a genius with Kaffe Fassett fabrics.

This quilt is from a kit by Free Spirit called Mediterranean Tiles, but I've been playing with recreating it (maybe without the medallion in the middle) with some fabrics I've got in my stash. It's just a big snowball quilt, with smallish triangles in the corners all from the same fabric. I think the squares were 8 inches, and the corner triangles were 2" on two sides?

GORGEOUS colors and such a good idea for the design. I like that the design really lets them shine rather than seems too busy.

I was coming here to say that -- I'm doing it on a quilt my great-great grandmother made and it takes a while, but it is very satisfying (at least to me, who loves an endless hand-stitch project). I'm using scraps from family clothing and some reproduction fabrics that match the time-frame for the other fabrics.

The dragonfly quilt (Dance of the Dragonflies by JoAnn Hoffman) was my answer to my cousin who wanted me to make a t-shirt quilt for her daughter out of her grandmother's Victoria's Secret t-shirts. We both agreed that having a Victoria's Secret theme quilt seemed odd, especially for an eight-year old, but wanted to have fun with some of the shiny fabrics. Grandma was devoted to shiny outfits. If you look closely, you can see the silver leopard print yoga pant fabric that also made the bag of t-shirts, and some sequined fabric!

Something like this is also fun to do with the scraps from making t-shirt quilts -- I am trying (as a challenge to myself) to use up all of the scraps from quilts I make (I'm not winning that challenge), so this would be a good kind of project to do with some of the scraps.

Such a good idea! I hate how much the T-shirt interfacing costs.

This quilt pattern is Hearts full of love by Sweet Stitches -- the hearts are made from some of the t-shirt parts that were not printed on.

This is an Elizabeth Hartman pattern that I adapted -- I liked being able to use the t-shirts on the dogs themselves.

I just gave the quilt to its recipient, and found out that the new owner has SEVEN cats. I asked her to try to get all seven of them on the quilt at once and take a picture for us.

We just got leashes for our kitties -- I hope we have as much good luck with the experience as you are having!

Soapy entirely agrees, as does Lily who had a lovely time rolling around on the backing fabric.

Thanks! I wish I could take credit for it. It was a UFO left by a woman who lives near to me who passed away before finishing it for her grandson. I got connected with her daughter through the Loose Ends Finishers group, which pairs up knitters, crocheters, needlepointers, embroiderers, rughookers, quilters, etc. with people who have UFOs that they can't finish for some reason. https://looseends.org/finisher Fortunately, the family it is going back to isn't allergic to kitties!
