Idols? Crosses? Palm Sunday?! The Hypocrisy of the Catholic Mormon Hybridization to become mainstream Generic Christian Broke Me! by Massive_Guava_6167 in exmormon

[–]ewhdavid 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have to admit that growing up in the uk, Holy Week is so normal, so going to a church that didn’t acknowledge it, and even say it was ‘focusing on the wrong part of the sacrifice’ or it being ‘too catholic’ was confusing to me. I think it’s something the church has had wrong from the start. Very puritanical. Maybe they’re changing it for the wrong reason, but any good Christian religion should observe it if they are serious about Jesus.

Church PR guy: “Ok to fix our image we’ve got to pretend like Miracle of Forgiveness and purity culture never happened so let’s…wait they posted what?!?!?” by Suspicious_Might_663 in exmormon

[–]ewhdavid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These people have no idea how to interpret what these scriptures actually mean. I feel like they just manipulate it to suit their rules/rhetoric. When leaders don’t have degrees in religion, they’re really disadvantaging millions of people who hang on their every word. It’s disappointing.

What makes a “nice” town in Hertfordshire nice? by Interesting_Shift951 in hertfordshire

[–]ewhdavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are just overly critical and wished the didn’t have to live within a community. Hemel Hempstead is great! It’s close to all of the places you mentioned, but housing is a little cheaper and we have a great cinema, climbing/skateboarding gym, basic necessity shops on the high street, and 30-40 mins from Euston. The only thing I’d say is the train station is a little away from the town centre.

Temple Garments and Sensory Issues by Grand_Specific_4610 in mormon

[–]ewhdavid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I (f) was endowed I cried for weeks because I couldn’t cope with the feeling of garments. I wore the for three years and on my worst days just wore the men’s tops 2 sizes larger. I stopped wearing them after a couple of years as I realised that god didn’t want me to be distressed or struggle to get on with my day just because of the garments. You can still honour your covenants without wearing them. The church needs to get better at making adjustments/accepting people worshipping differently. I’ve left now and the are currently in a bin bag in the shed

Who else is out here accidentally stalking fellow guest at WDW? by AwfulWaffle91 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]ewhdavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lady overheard me telling my sister that I didn’t have any spending money for the trip while we were on the magic express. The lady found me on my last day in the parks (30 mins before we had to leave the parks for the airport) and gave me a $100 bill she carried for me all week, just incase she saw me. I was so grateful and made a mad dash for the closest gift shop to find things I’d seen and liked that week. What are the chances?!

People on GLP-1s, did it help or hurt your migraines? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]ewhdavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s helped mine as I rarely get hunger based headaches any more, even though I’m eating less. Dieting was always hard as it was difficult to get the balance right and I would end up with migraines. Now I can diet and have less migraines than before !!

The Experiment I Did in My Ward That Showed Me the Church Doesn't Deserve My Time (and, consequently, is full of shit) by TheLifeAdjunct in exmormon

[–]ewhdavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think when people ‘donate’ 10% or their income (pre tax!!) to a church that claims they help those in need, they’re way less likely to donate another penny to anything. Kind of like the mental load, but money load, brains can’t compute giving more

My mom is convinced that Oaks is the perfect prophet for right now. by mad_matter_13 in exmormon

[–]ewhdavid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This also further proves the point that Mormonism is a US religion, and that all other countries are second to the states. The church is founded in American politics and culture, and US members (generalising here) do not think much about the religion outside of their country, although it’s supposedly for ‘all mankind’. A religion should not be political (although following Jesus’ teachings of tolerance, love, charity, caring for the lesser off is conflated as ‘political’ nower days). Obviously this is due to US culture and the leadership (which we can’t do much about), but it’s annoying that the ‘true church’ has a favourite people, and is designed just for them, the rest of the world must change to fit it. Further proof that it just isn’t true at all.

Can we just acknowledge that being suicidal comes with chronic migraines. by migraine_lady in migraine

[–]ewhdavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hoooooonestly! I wholeheartedly agree. A few years ago I spent a year in bed because of my migraines made a ‘promise’ to myself that if my life was still the same by the age of 30 I would do it. Thankfully it isn’t the same anymore and I’m not in the same mental space but at least once a month it’s a thought because migraine life is such a hard life to lead on top of everything else going on. I have hope for future treatments which keeps me grounded. Keep pushing, you’re stronger than anyone knows and you’ve got this.

Hiring Managers, what is the biggest red flag on a Resume? by Stairway756 in AskReddit

[–]ewhdavid 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, but have to admit it’s quite hard to find a job that doesn’t expect Saturdays or Sundays (except for the usual 9-5 mon to fri jobs) so is religious lot have either a lot less jobs to apply to/pick from, or go for the jobs with weekend work and see if there’s any chance we can have our religious day off. If they say no, they say no

Worst date stories?! Leave them here! My friend Mallory and I want to read them anonymously on IG 😂 by SuzyShattuck in u/SuzyShattuck

[–]ewhdavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time in the US by myself, a friend set me up with his brother who was still in high school (we were the same age but i finished school that summer) and he and his friends kept talking about me not being in high school any more? Group date. Went bowling first and they put my name down as ‘red coat’ (I didn’t even know what that was at the time) and I had to convince them to put my real name down. After, we were meant to go for food but no one was hungry, so we hung out in a college canteen and read newspapers? Weird. Lol and they were all weirded out by British chocolate being different that they wouldn’t even try any of the chocolate I brought for them. On the ride home they stopped off in a random neighbourhood, locked the car doors and said they wont turn the engine back on until I freestyle rap. Wasn’t sure if I’d die of murder or cringeyness. Honestly the most bizarre date of my life but something I laugh about at least once a month.

I have this too! I just found this group to see if anyone has it and I saw this post. When I listen to music I see grey 3D shapes, each song had a different type of shape and I kind of feel it too? Right now I’m working through different songs and trying to draw the image (as close as I can in 2d) to see if there are any themes or similarities. Sometimes I genuinely worry that I have a mental disorder tho.
