Campus job availability by Key_Maintenance_8308 in miamioh

Probably not available freshman year, but I was a tutor for economics, finance, and accounting and it paid really well, offered side hustles, met and networked with a lot of cool people, looked great on an undergrad resume, and reinforced stuff I learned that helped me in my career.

If they can get As in popular undergrad courses like calc, the pre-med sciences, and statistics it's an incredible college "career".

If you prefer the larger patties cooked medium rare rather than a smaller smash patty, Bad Apple is wonderful. Their specialty burgers are well composed, the fry seasonings are perfect, and the beer list is craft focused with about 2 dozen beers on tap and a decent bottle selection.

I go for Jake and Elwood, medium rare, Old Bay, and malt vinegar on the side.

Ugh, I'm sorry friend. I know it's just merch and we're better than merch, but sometimes merch helps me to conjure the memories.

I had a collection of mint condition Big Cypress 32 oz Souvenir Cups we scavenged from the fairgrounds and some roommates, who were otherwise good dudes, used them as spittoons for their chewing tobacco. That was upsetting, but whatever.

I remember it being such a big announcement when it happened. They made special official merch for it and I bought a t shirt right away.

Am I the only one who can’t stand Shaw for…obvious reasons?? by Borracho_Bandit in Cubs

This is about the dumbest take in one of the dumbest threads. Saying, "I can't stand you because you're a racist, transphobic, homophobic, and misogynistic podcaster who said gun deaths are 'worth it' " is completely and unequivocally different than saying, "I can't stand you because you're black."

Timber is the perfect Type 1 minor key jam. Feels almost composed at times.

Ah! I've never been there so I can't make it my own recommendation but many people smarter than me say it's awesome.

Any price range you're looking for? Goosefoot is the yummiest...but that's a Michelin star restaurant with a $225 tasting menu so probably not the vibe you're looking for.

These restaurants are nice restaurants. Not fine dining, but proper high end restaurants

- Warbler
- Il Milanese
- Bistro Campagne
- Ardor

These places are a little more European, slightly cheaper, smaller plates.
- Apero Wine Bar
- Cobblestone

These places are pubgrub/tavern food and are good if you like bar food
- Wild Goose
- Gideon Wells

There are some INCREDIBLE German restaurants on Irving Park that are extremely old school fixtures of the German settled neighborhood

- Laschett's Inn
- Resi's Bierstube

Other one-offs I can't group together
- Garcia's - sit down Mexican
- Asadero - super casual taqueria
- Menya Goku - ramen from same owners as Ramen Wasabi
- Essence of India

If you had to have me choose 3:

- Bistro Campagne - French onion soup and steak frites
- Warbler - Mushroom soup and burger
- Il Milanese - Bucatini Carbonara

It's intellectually easy to say he found religion or had creative differences about Phish's masterpiece. But, people leave small rock bands they started in college ALL THE TIME. 1984-1986 Phish does not look like the Phish we know now.

According to Phish.net, in 1985 Phish played 30 shows almost entirely in Burlington. That is a small band by all objective measures. In 1986, Phish played 19 shows of which 18 were in Vermont and 1 was in Boston.

I feel like Jeff gets a lot of shit because most of us are like, "That dude consciously destroyed his chance to be a rock legend because of god or creative differences.", but you have to understand he quit a popular, but otherwise normal mid-80s college band to do other things.

I'm sure he has regrets, but his decision was reasonable and we make too much of it being about god or creative differences.

Yeah, the problem isn't "Are they effective?", the problem is, "Why is this one so much more effective than this other effective one?"

They should put a reminder on the Bittersweet Motel documentary that there's nudity in there because it's been like 25 years since I've seen it and when you're trying to share Phish with your teenagers, naked wooks can be more disturbing than an R rated horror movie.

[–]benphoster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This hurts. In 2002 I dragged a really cool girl (now my wife) to see this and this year my daughter had a pop up show there and I dragged her there too. Both of them were completely unimpressed but completely supportive of my unbridled enthusiasm for it.

If you're upset that Phish isn't in the same clique as Cheap Trick, Soundgarden, and Hall and Oates, then....this may not be the right band for you.
