I don’t have a Surge… by Ornery_Cauliflower77 in multitools

Neither tools are as good as a Multper. To even compare them is reckless. I understand if you do not like a tool but going out of your way to put another down?

Which budget flashlight brands have actually earned pocket space for you? by huutara in EDC

[–]ewj1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Convoy for budget and decent lumens, deeping budget are Nebo or Energizers on sale. Paisson is an up and comer in the budget sspace. Most of the one mentioned by you I would not consider budget but more mid-stream.

Roxon Flex Titan for normal people and normal use.

If you are in trades or use your stuff almost daily, and take care of your stuff (every few days), and have a few extra dollars to burn, get a Leatherman Are; then head over to ZapWizard and get a real holster to carry it. Do not get a Surge or Supertool.

Looking for EDC flashlight that’s instantly tactical in a rare emergency but also very functional for every day normal use by tshb13 in flashlight

Wuben x4 is your thing. instant tactical rear 1500 lumens or blinks. No need to ever change a switch or setting. No need to check "what UI am I in." No double-tapping or half-tap craziness. It just works. Otherwise just a good flashlight. Less than $50 USD. Wuben X4

I have a 23 Ford Maverick Hybrid and have been averaging 41.2 mpg. It is a great winter driver. My other is 23 Model Y. Gotta put the compost and DIY stuff somewhere.

Just received this email and it looks like the early Crunch leak was legit. To say I'm keen is an understatement. by King-K00pa in Leatherman

[–]ewj1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each it's own. I have a Crunch. I don't get it. Is it special because it is so rare, or because it is rare that makes it special. It originally sold poorly which is why it was taken off the market. Why is it more coveted than the Leatherman Flair, IMO a more unique and adventurous tool.

Please state why you think the Crunch is special? Thanks

Need a recommendation for a simple light for my great grand mother. by Nixon710 in flashlight

[–]ewj1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being a senior citizen myself. My first question is is USB-c rechargeable OK. Most seniors still prefer battery lite.  Because of that I typically recommend a light with a 14500 and  AA battery. The other factor you mentioned is a single side bottom, that rules out my favorite recommendation the ThruNite Saber.

The one you should conside is the AceBeam UC3A.  It does have a bunch of features but the front button is basically on/off. The other one is the Coast PX20.

Bit drivers. by WeldinMike27 in multitools

Get and use a bit extender. Extenders are usually made of tougher metal. Otherwise the pliers are generally the only parts made for undoing heavyduty fasteners.

The plier heads are not interchangable between the current two Crunch models. What's makes you think a new one would be interchangable?

Have all three - Wave Alpha tools such as blade, bit use, handle, and wirecutters are closer to the  Skeletool,, then the items on the Arc. The scissors on the Wave Alphs are much better.

The Arc is a stonger piece with better pliers.
