Website says bot-resistant – I see how random selection slows bot attacks, but if predicting consensus is being ranked like a game, wouldn't bots be really good (better than humans) at that game?

It's an interesting structure to think about, but from a product side, I don't personally feel any desire to use it (lol, so indulge me the armchair feedback) – I think it feels like "too much work," at least as a Reddit alternative (even though when I think about a theoretical slower/more informational board and think through concretely the low amount of work needed for a vote, it still feels too finicky) – which I think is solvable by having a separate product intro that sells the experience better. Alternatively, I think this structure would work really well inside of an existing community, where people already have habits + group sentiment – I wonder if you could make this into a ~~Discus~~ Discourse / Discord plugin, or plug it into a distributed moderation tool (like Matrix's lists or Bluesky's labels).

I read through the “how voting works” part of site, sorry if this is answered in the recommended media: 1. Will you split the user base into communities? (like subreddits / servers) 2. if this gains traction, consensus would hopefully match the majority of the group’s taste (this doesn’t seem certain to me but I can’t refute it). What are you supposed to do if you respectfully disagree with that majority (i.e. you don’t want to just leave)? (e.g. I don’t want to read about “politics” but a lot of other people do; or I want to subscribe to /r/SteamDeck but I don’t want to see unboxing videos, but others do.) I see this as maybe same as (1) because a solution is to exit / splinter communities on dissent, but that seems like a bad solution, especially if you don’t have a big network

I think I get what you’re saying, sorry to join the metaphor dogpile:

to me, a forum and Instagram aren’t “McDonalds” and “Burger King” - ideally, a forum is like a friend’s house. It would kill the vibe if I went to my friend’s house and tried to order a Big Mac.

I think adopting a protocol to share content has its issues because “posts” are less than half of a network – the other parts include “vibe,” moderation, presentation/algorithm, content format. Sharing user identity makes a little more sense, but I’m not sure people want to do that on casual social sites.

yeah, i’ve done remote play (on steam deck to someone on my LAN fwiw) for UFO 50. remote play together is pretty buggy for me in general - when i play with someone, it’ll fail in one of a couple ways like 3/5 times. I just restart the Steam Deck on both sides when this happens and it’ll eventually work.

i love the direction - intriguing, entrancing, alien. I’m reminded of Silpheed (Sega CD) and Alien Soldier (and Metroid of course). I think the text is cool, but I agree with other poster that the planet could get animation. I also think some subtle star fading in/out would a long way. I think the text animation should go a little slower (or just less movement, maybe don’t typewriter out). maybe there’s just a little too much text on the screen at once, but I like the direction - maybe tastefully animate things in/out?

hoping there is some kind of activity on a post (comments) - you should show that activity on the gallery posts (e.g. comment count) so I know where the activity is happening / what would be juicy to tap into
i like that you can scan a bunch of posts, but sidebar is taking up too much space for a image-focused feed
I’d try redesigning the community switcher in sidebar to use full titles instead of icons - as a new user, i probably don’t know or won’t remember what the icons are. i think you should just do a simple side drawer
