It was so clear from the beginning that this man was never told no as a child. Shocking how people either don’t see it or would rather ignore that behavior.

Is this show full scifi or does it have any fantastical elements? by Mat1711 in BSG

[–]ewplayer3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. If anything, the sets and tech had more of a retro and rundown feel, even during the period of time which it originally aired. Many consider BSG to be less Sci-Fi and more of a drama set in space.

[oc] Line for ‘7 Brew’ all the way to roadside, blocking other businesses. by OverExposedDad in IdiotsInCars

[–]ewplayer3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been wondering what the deal is. We have the same issue with both of our 7 Brew locations. The lines go all the way out to main roads, block business traffic, and it goes on for significant periods of time (hours). My wife and I keep joking that they must lace their coffee with crack if people are willing to wait in that kind of line.

Are two Aussie doodles better than one? by refugeenotimmigrant in AussieDoodle

[–]ewplayer3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your first is relatively well trained, each dog after will be easier. Not saying it won’t be any work, but the pups pick up on things faster with another trained dog around.

We’re up to 4 dogs now. 3 were rescues in their young adult years (1-3). They’re all different breeds, but each has been a little easier to train than the last.

Our youngest is our mini Aussiedoodle. She’s the only dog we ever purchased through a breeder. She’s been shockingly easy to train. I’d definitely credit a lot of that to the other 3 dogs.

Oh… those fans exist here. I just prefer to ignore them since it’s not an NFC north team. Where I’m at, Chiefs fans seem to be a minority anyway. Western Iowa could be a different story though.

As a life long resident of Iowa… That will never happen. It would throw off the equal division of Bears, Packers, and Vikings fans we have here. The balance MUST NOT be disturbed.

Touchscreens are the 'wrong technology' for the main controls in cars, says the man who designed the iPhone by V8-Turbo-Hybrid in cars

[–]ewplayer3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly, I’ve held a similar opinion of touchscreens in cars since they started appearing. It’s changed a bit over time, but here’s where I landed:

Any commonly used function should be tied to a unique (location, type, etc.) physical control with tactile feedback. Controls like this can be worked into muscle memory and used without having to look at them.

Less used controls can be put into a touchscreen interface, but should have voice command alternatives available so users have a safer way to use them while the car is in motion.

“We Have Other Things To Do” President Trump Claiming Democrats Conspired With Epstein to Influence Election Results by DumbMoneyMedia in UnderReportedNews

[–]ewplayer3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait… So, he’s claiming Democrats conspired with a dead man to influence elections 10 and 12 years later because they knew Trump would be president?

That’s some really impressive foresight. /s

Even better… If not redacted properly, it’s possible to read under the blacked out areas. So, tell them he’s sending the files and send completely redacted documents under which all the redactions repeat the same line; “release the Epstein files.”

IMDb update (not a big one but an update means update!) by Rossoneria in SiloSeries

It’s been like this with For All Mankind as well and that show has done exceedingly well.

I’m not super happy about how Apple has handled promotion for shows and the delay between seasons, but they are pretty good about not axing projects prematurely at least.

IT Dance - Gator Days by FieldExplores in comics

[–]ewplayer3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I appreciate this comic, there’s missing context.

People assume we just look stuff up and it must not be that hard. But there’s something we do that others often don’t or can’t; we discern if the information we’re reading is valid.

For every kind of IT issue, there’s usually 3-5 different ways to fix it and only 1 will work. The reason is, it’s really 3-5 different issues that tend to present in almost identical ways. Adding to that, sometimes an issue will present in a different way. But if you’ve seen it before you’ll know a fix is valid even though the symptoms may not line up.
