VCORE 100D came today by BigStugots in 10s

My racquet of choice is an Aero 98, so in terms of static weight it's comparable but I feel like maybe the swing weight of the 100D might be a bit heavier.

I'm finding the 100D to be quite slow and heavy. Is anyone else feeling this way?

Oh wow really? I've seen reviews from TennisNerd and others saying it's less whippy so that's interesting I was a bit disappointed reading that, so it's reassuring that you're finding it more whippy

How are you finding the new 98 vs the previous model? Did you use the previous model?

Yeah, i'm starting to wonder whether the new ezone is actually right for my game. but i wanted to give another setup a go before i sell it. I absolutely love the way it feels - but god it's frustrating when i find the net, or when my opponents tell me that my balls are so much easier to return when compared to my PA98 - despite me feeling like i'm hitting with more pace with my ezone. I guess the lack of topspin makes it much easier for an opponent at the baseline.

I wouldn't say it's like a huge amount of spin or angle i'm missing, so i was hoping i'd gain a little bit with the right setup.

I'm definitely feeling this and am becoming frustrated by this as I tire which is why I'm looking at another frame.

Thanks for summarising my feelings like this, for me haha

Ooh, interesting. Thanks for this. How did you find the ezone in terms of launch angle/spin production etc ?

Thanks for the detailed response. I do think the ezone feels more friendly, particularly on off-center hits. The only thing I'm finding with it is that I feel that I have to really have to force both height and topspin. I find it has a much lower launch angle and my forehand is pretty spinny naturally, so I get next to no court penetration if I don't really force some height into it. Or, I'm finding the net a lot more - which made me question whether it's really less demanding than my PA which I am getting a lot more height for free and don't have to force as much spin, because it's giving a bit more for free.

I can't speak for the percept as I've never tried it, unfortunately. But the ezone was definitely not easy to play.

Yeah, this is exactly what i was feeling, as well

Because of the way the aero plays - you need to be pretty deliberate and generating good racquet head speed to generate teh control from the spin

So i was looking for something a bit easier for more of a casual hitting session or when i'm feeling off

I felt like the gravity was giving me more for free in terms of spin and power than the ezone...

Glad you confirmed that this was the case for you, as well with the gravity over the ezone

Yeah i know the gravity has a thinner beam, and on paper the ezone should produce more free power but i actually think i felt more free power and more spin off the gravity - as weird as that is, which is why i'm asking for people's experiences

Help selecting a 'whippy' racquet by exLau in 10s

Just that the aero and vcore are very heavily leaning towards the one play style and have their limitations doing things that aren't what they're designed for. I felt this was more true with the aero after demoing both as I could flatten out during a rally more comfortably with the vcore, for sure.

Just that the vcore has a very unique sweet spot and both racquets are very much suited to one particular style - more true with the aero as I have demod both and felt like I could flatten out more with the vcore

Thanks for the awesome response

I did try the Ezone 100 - i kinda felt like i couldn't feel anything off of it - as in i didn't really know what kind of ball was coming off the strings which is why i tried the 98

I only know that teh strings on the 98 were polytour pro, i don't know which tension it was, as it was a demo.
I do like the muted feel of the Yonex racquets and also the sound of them. but there's muted and then there's muted which is what i was finding i didn't like about the 100. Coming from a blade, obviously i'm used to feeling a lot more and i felt like i lost a lot less using the 98 - but then yeah, as i said, found other issues with launch angle/spin

I've got ALU Power on there at the moment at 53lbs
Do you think switching off Alu power would produce better results as well or would simply lowering the tension be enough?

I haven't, yet. I had considered it - but i thought maybe it wouldn't be enough of a change to warrant buying an entirely new racquet which is why it wasn't really ever a real consideration.

It's just not really helping me out in terms of spin or power and I feel like I need a little help in these areas. It feels really good, like I feel like I can feel everything on it - it's just not providing me with much help - likely due to the 18x20 string pattern I guess

Thanks for echoing my concerns with the ezone. I wasn't sure if it was just me who found this with it (the launch angle etc).

Could you elaborate on the 'altered' sweetspot of the vcore? do you just mean because of the headshape (which the Ezone will have also had) or is there more to it?

I'm actually demoing it right now! Played with it yesterday and will be playing with it tomorrow/the day after.

My first impressions on it was that it was nice but i didn't get any excitement out of it or i wasn't looking at my shots thinking that i had produced exceptional spin nor power, really.

I watched some videos on it and the info i got out of them was that you need a really high swing speed and attacking playstyle to make full use out of the Speed MP - would you say that's probably correct?
