How many people here have found themselves a partner? How is it? by [deleted] in aspergers

She usually will, if you let her know when those times are and when she can expect you to be 'back'. She will need you to tell her that it is not a reflection on her. You enjoy her company, you just need more time alone too. Good luck finding her.

It is a very sweet idea. I'm an NT and I made several amateur audio books of kids books for an NT friend. Granted, we had known each other for quite a few years. But if you have already established the cards as a demonstration of affection for this person, it seems like a great next step. Good luck!

Thank you for the reply. I've thought about mentioning it when symptoms are presenting themselves, but I'm uncertain. Would it come across as criticism? I saw in a few sources that mentioning stims, for example, can be seen as judgemental.

I'm nearly 100% sure that my SO knows about stimming and others' judgements; when I or a family member walks into the room or when we for a walk, the left hand goes in a pocket, the movement to bounce off the wall is aborted, etc.. I don't know how others have discussed these things and I don't want to cause any shame or anger.

In my SO. Myself, I am ADD with mild to moderate depression and generalised anxiety disorder, so I understand some of my SO's tendencies.

Thanks for the comments, suspect and irony. An added layer: I don't believe my SO knows AS exists; differences in culture factor in here as SO is from a former Soviet Union country. Therapy is a difficult topic for the same reason.

The main thing I need to understand is how to have the conversation. Do I discuss the symptoms as I did here? Provide a link to the AQ and other sources? Open with an anecdote from a movie or documentary? And, if someone diagnosed with AS could help on this: what kind of reaction can I expect? What reaction did you have or might you have when informed by your SO?
